Charlotte Ann Johnson, 94, died peacefully in her sleep on December 10, 2020 at Joanie’s Home for the Happy Senior in Montello Wisconsin where she had been residing. Char was born in Kohler on August 11, 1926 to the late Arthur and Anna Zimmerman. She graduated from Kohler High School and went on to marry Warner B. Johnson from Rockford, IL on September 21, 1946. They settled in Sheboygan and built a wonderful life together. As a young girl, she moved to Chicago to live with her aunt Lily while working there as a telephone operator. After moving back to Sheboygan and starting a family, she worked at the downtown Sheboygan H.C. Prange Company as well as the Memorial Drive Prange-Way store. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ. Char and her family enjoyed camping at Long Lake, and in later years with Warner, spent many happy days at their vacation trailer on Butzke Lake. She loved her margarita pontoon boat rides on White Lake and her Green Bay Packers.
Char is survived by two sons: Michael (Jennie) of Montello and Randy of Seattle Washington, four granddaughters (Carrie, Cindy, Colleen and Sarah) and seven great-grandchildren (Jade, Danny, Gabe, Zach, Jacob, Clara and Ayla Rose.
Warner and Char were married for 49 years before Warner preceded her in death on February 28th, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
There will be no visitation, and no service will be held at this time. The family will hold a remembrance to celebrate Char’s life when it is safe to gather together. She will be buried at Greenlawn Cemetery in Sheboygan.
Thanks go to the staff at Joanie’s for lovingly and compassionately taking care of Char during her time there, with special thanks to Carol Kramp, without whom our mother’s life would have been much less special.
