Gary Brendel Sr., 67, passed away on July 4, 2021, from a short but courageous battle with cancer. Mr. Brendel was born Gary Joseph Brendel on October 15, 1953 to Marion Koenig and Walter Brendel. Gary loved classic cars whether it was working on them for hours or just enjoying their beauty. He enjoyed reminiscing about his younger years with his family and friends.
Survivors include his special friend, Nancy LaPearle. Gary’s children Michelle (Cristino) Martinez, Laurie (Jose) Martinez, Gary Brendel Jr., Brian (Debbie) Brendel, Wally (Angie) Brendel, and Karen Brendel. His grandchildren Cassandra, Christino Jr., Samuel, Biolanda, Angelina, Aiden, Genevieve, Brooke, Jimmy, Crystal, Ryan, Vinnie, Alyssa, Wally Jr., Makayla, Jameson, Treyvon and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sisters Kathy (Leslie) Gannigan, Cindy (Eugene Sr.) Kunstman and Joyce Virant.
He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Mary Ann Brendel, his parents, two sisters and one brother.
A graveside memorial will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, July 17 at St. Fidelis Cemetery, Pioneer Rd., Newton.
The family would like to thank Sharon Richardson for the care they provided him at the end of his life. We really appreciate the compassion that was shown in his last days. Thank you!
