Gwendolyn “Gwen” Engelhardt, age 92 of Sheboygan, passed away after a short illness late Sunday afternoon July 26, 2026 surrounded by loved ones at Sharon S. Richardson. Gwen was born on November 25, 1933 in Sheboygan. She attended Grant Elementary School and was a 1952 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. Gwen was a member of St. Mark Ev Lutheran Church. On November 8, 1958 she married Bernard “Ben” Engelhardt at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, which she then joined and remained a faithful member. Gwen worked at Leverenz Shoe Company until the birth of her first child. In 1972, she returned to the workforce at Mayline until she retired in 1995.
Gwen enjoyed reading, traveling, word search puzzles and her daily Portals of Prayer. Her love for animals kept the TV on Dr. Jeff Rocky Mountain Vet or Jack Hanna into the Wild with an occasional Chuck Norris movie. Hershey bars, Werther’s Originals and an occasional glass of Zinfandel were her favorites. Gwen cherished spending time with her family, but above all, she loved her Lord and Savior.
Gwen is survived by her sons, John Engelhardt, James (Jacqui) Engelhardt and Andrew (Debra) Engelhardt; grandchildren, Nicole (Keith) Kraemer, Kayla (Cory) Fabian, Kelsi (Corey Steffes) Engelhardt, Casey (Maggie) Carlson, Cody (Andy) Hendler, Brett Sander and Brittany Sander; great-grandchildren, Aidan, Brooklyn and Carson Kraemer, Wyatt and Sarah Carlson, Isaac and Eli Hendler, and Ely Sander, Jaxon, Tavayah and Lexi Oberle. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Gwen is preceded in death by her husband, Ben; parents, Gustav and Lena (Warning) Bubb; siblings, Floyd (Esther) Bubb, Elery (Hazel) Bubb, Lynn (Marilyn) Bubb, Elwyn (Johnnie) Bubb, Lyle (Doris) Bubb, Mylon (Jo) Bubb, Gladys (Melvin) Kasbuske, Caryl (Robert) McDermott, Adlyn (Carl) Scribner, Delfya (Vernon) Gensch, and Shirley (Clarence) Markham.
