Henry A. Reimer, age 87, of Sheboygan, died on Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. He was born in Sheboygan on November 25,1934, the son of the late Henry and Beverly Brady Reimer.
He went to Lincoln Grade School and graduated from Sheboygan Central high School. Henry then joined the U.S. Navy two weeks after he graduated from high school. He was very proud of serving in the minesweeper division. He served on the U.S.S. Pelican AM S.32, sweeping mines off the coast of Korea. After coming back, Henry was stationed at the Long Beach Naval Station where he was aboard a 56-foot wooden minesweeper. This was minesweeper division 112.
Henry came back to Sheboygan and on August 25,1956 he married the love of his life Rose Marie Junge, at St. Peter Claver Catholic church in Sheboygan. They had six children, Michael, Michelle, Sue, Jacqueline, Christine, and Kurt. Henry started his career as an electrician starting his apprenticeship at Wert electric. The trade which he was taught in the US Navy. He was a member of the IBEW local 494 for 55 years.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially going camping with his family and hunting with his best friend Karl Haegler. Henry also loved fishing in Canada, northern Wisconsin, and Lake Michigan with Ken Peterson and Carl Weber.
Henry also had a great love for his grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They were all very special to him. Henry went on the Vets Roll in May 2012 to Washington D.C. to see the war memorials. He enjoyed the trip and was accompanied by his grandson, Christopher Burgin. Henry then went on the honor flight to Washington D.C. on April 13 ,2016.
Survivors include his five children, Mike (Judy) Reimer, Michelle (Peter) Sjollema, Susan (Thomas) Burgin, Christine Dietrich and Kurt Reimer, all of Sheboygan; ten grandchildren, Michael Jr. (fiancée Lisa) Reimer, Jessica Reimer, Melissa Chronis, Angela (fiancée Keith) Sjollema, Christopher Burgin, Scott (Jamie) Burgin, William (Sara) Dietrich, Brandon (Jennifer) Dietrich, Mark (Katie) Dietrich Jr. and Edward (Brandon) Barden; seven great-grandchildren, Ian, Nikolaos, Christos, Brielynn, Wilhemina, Jacobina, and Mark III; two step great grandchildren, Elizabeth and Jaxon; and his brother, Randy Reimer, of Colorado. Henry was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rose Marie, and a daughter, Jacqueline.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 South 12th Street, Sheboygan with Fr. Paul Fliss officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Tuesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 12:00 p.m. Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery Mausoleum.
Henry’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Froedtert Hospital and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, for the wonderful care they gave to our father.
