Henry “Hank” C. Hoppert Jr.

Henry “Hank” C. Hoppert Jr., age 93, of Sheboygan, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 3, 2021 at the Sheboygan Senior Community. He was born in San Francisco, CA on May 10, 1927 the son of the late Henry C. and Anna Lemke Hoppert Sr. He attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1947. Hank was drafted into the U.S. Army and achieved the rank of Corporal during the end of World War II. On October 6, 1951 he was united in marriage to Shirley Maas at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. He was employed as a deputy with the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Department and retired in 1984 as a detective after 30 years of service. Hank was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Men’s Club and Hole in One Club at Riverdale Golf Course. In his younger years he enjoyed softball, basketball, and bowling. Hank cherished the times he spent at his grandchildren’s sporting events and school functions. He also loved taking walks, meeting new people, playing golf, and enjoying the Saturday cribbage games at Riverdale. Hank and Shirley were regulars at Schwarz’s Supper Club in St. Anna, where Hank enjoyed taking different routes to get there. Hank also loved his and Shirley’s many road trips to Branson, MO. He was also an avid Packers, Brewers and Badgers fan. Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Sheboygan; two sons, Charles (Jan Georgatsos) Hoppert and Steven (Laurie Scharrer) Hoppert, all of Sheboygan; four grandchildren, Elene (John) Rautmann, of Port Washington, Thomas (Kimberly) Hoppert, of MN, Andrew (Robin) Hoppert, of Port Washington and Samantha Hoppert, of Sheboygan; three great-grandchildren, Parker Rautmann, Brynlee and Braelyn Hoppert; a nephew, Gary Schuette and a niece, Barbara Schuette, both of Sheboygan. He is further survived by other relatives and friends. Hank was preceded in death by his parents and an infant brother. In accordance with the family’s wishes a private service has been held and an entombment has taken place at the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum at the Lutheran Cemetery. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the entire staff at the Sheboygan Senior Community for the compassion and care that was given to him.
