James P. Glavan

James P. Glavan, age 81, of Sheboygan, died on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Aurora Sheboygan Medical Center. He was born in Joliet, IL, on April 28, 1941, the son of the late Louis and Ann Kirincich Glavan.
He attended Joliet Catholic High School, graduating in 1959. James furthered his education at Lewis University, earning a BS degree in Business Administration and Management, he then acquired his master’s degree at Northern Illinois University in Marketing and Distributive Education. On August 29, 1964, he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Denise Batis in Joliet, IL.
James was a teacher at Joliet Township High School, Sheboygan North High School, Farnsworth Middle School and Lakeshore Technical Institute in Cleveland. After teaching he acquired his real estate license and become a realtor, eventually owning and operating his own company Liberty Realty. Later in life he became a real estate appraiser for Norwest Bank, and then his own company, “Jim Glavan Appraisals”. James, along with his wife Denise, were also the owner operators of Save Way Liquor in Sheboygan Falls from 1976 to 2001.
James was a Sheboygan County Supervisor for 18 years and was also a life-long member of the Elks Lodge #299. James was a Chicago Blackhawks, Green Bay Packers, and Milwaukee Brewers fan. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and watching his five grandchildren play sports.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Denise “Dennie Sue”, of Sheboygan; four children, Kathleen Glavan, James (Lynn) Glavan, both of Sheboygan, Jeffrey (Moira) Glavan, of Arizona, and Susan (Shawn) Theune, of Oostburg; seven grandchildren, Jaidan, Annika, and Davis Glavan, Brendan (Alicia) Sperandio, Kyle Sperandio, Ellissa and Aubree Theune; and his brother, Louis (Darra) Glavan, of Joliet, IL. He is further survived by many relatives and friends.
A memorial service for James will be held on Sunday, March 5, 2023, at 12:30 p.m. at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan with Fr. Paul Fliss officiating. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Sunday morning from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service at 12:30 p.m.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to the ER staff at Aurora Sheboygan Medical Center for the compassion and care that was given to James and his family. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in his name to benefit Bookworm Gardens.

Jim and Dennie and family were our “backyard “ neighbors when we moved to Sheboygan. He always had a smile on his face along with a cheerful greeting. Prayers are with his family at this very sad time. Sincerely, Christine Morgan

I had Jim for a teacher my senior year at North High School (1974 - 1975). Later on, I got reunited with Jim when I worked in the Sheboygan County Clerk's Office, and Jim was a County Supervisor. Rest In Peace my friend ....
