I was saddened to see John Witkauskas' name in the 'In Memorium' section of the Northwestern magazine that just arrived. Over the summer of 1969, John and I shared a room at the Shield Chapel, doing chores for the Chapel in return for a place to stay. I was doing my first research in the department of chemistry that summer. I will always remember John's incredibly enthusiastic attitude and how positively he affected everyone around him. He was such a great person. My condolences to his family.

I worked many years with John at Delta Air Lines. I never became close friends with him; but, I always Remember him smiling. Never said anything negative. He will always be remembered as a polite, Friendly kind man.

Wishing the Witkauskas family love for comfort, and courage to face the days ahead. May you forever feel John's love through the happy memories you hold of him in your hearts.

John and I go back to 1974 together, sharing walks between our Lincoln Park apartments and 29 E. Madison. We shared many, many moments together, dinners at the Magic Pan, breakfasts at the Belden Deli and every memory I have of John is fantastic! I'm so sorry I can't be in Wisconsin to share these memories because they're all happy ones. Please accept my deepest condolences! I've never met anyone quite like him and he'll always be remembered, bringing a smile for me.

Rest in Peace John. You will be missed by many. Thank you for being part of our Delta family and thank you for your friendship to all.

I'm so heartbroken to hear about the loss of John. We did Maywood tours together for many years. He taught me a ton about nature and would tease if me when I didn't know the answers to the questions that the kids would ask. He honestly was so much fun to be around. He seemed to know something about everything. I was looking forward to our yearly "catch up" at the North basketball game this year but I guess that'll have to wait. RIP my friend.

I was so sorry to read of John's passing but am glad that as the obituary said he enjoyed a well-lived and happy life. John was a good friend to my mom and dad on bus excursions to Oneida and I like to think they were waiting among his escorts when he left this Earth for heaven. God bless. Bob Drews

I was very sorry to hear of john's passing. He was a high school classmate of mine, and when he came back to Sheboygan, I saw him volunteering at many events. He was always a very friendly, nice person. Our class has a Facebook page, and there are many nice comments about John if you'd like to read them. The site is Sheboygan South High school--Class of 1966

I’m so very sorry for the loss of your brother and uncle John. I worked with him in Chicago Reservations and his kindness and help made all of us better at our jobs. I will never forget his laughter, voice and caring heart. It was always a joy to see his photography from his many travels. He was such a great guy. May you feel God’s tender care as you grieve and honor his life.

Mr. W was a wonderful man! He loved to read books, watch old movies, collect post cards, watch basketball, take bus trips and travel! But most of all he loved to read books to children! Enjoy the heavens my friend! I’m sure they have a very well organized library up there!

Mary and the rest of John’s family... John was a super kind and gentle man. When my husband (Allen..a classmate of John’s) and I lived on So.7th and Mead, John would often pass our home on his walks. I enjoyed many quirky conversations with him and he would update me on you, Mary, May be rest in his wonderful place in Heaven...a very special place, I’m sure.
