Carl Wassink was born on November 17, 1932 and passed away on January 11, 2024 at the age of 91, surrounded by family. Carl was raised in rural Sheboygan Falls, WI where he met his wife, Carol Ten Pas and was married on June 14, 1958 at the First Reformed Church in Cedar Grove. During his working years, he worked as a Research Chemist for Commercial Solvents Corporation and International Minerals Corporation for 30 years until his retirement. Carl was in the Terre Haute Exchange Club and a sponsor for the Gibault School and for international students at Indiana State University. He was a member of Unity Presbyterian Church where he was an elder, treasurer, sang in the choir and was in the church softball league. Carl also enjoyed woodworking and Nantucket basket weaving.
Carl is survived by his children, Gregory (Debbie) Wassink of Bolingbrook, IL, Lori (John) Evanich of Griffith, IN and Jennifer (Kraig) Baker of Danville, IN; grandchildren, Stephen Wassink, Rachel Wassink, Brittany (Joe) Zajac, Jacob (Lissan) Evanich, Ali (David) Amstutz, Kameron (Lauren) Baker and Claire Baker; great-grandchildren, Audrey Amstutz and Levi Evanich and siblings, Marilyn Hanson and Julian (Diane) Wassink. He is preceded in death by his wife, Carol Wassink and parents, Harvey and Bernice Wassink.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan from 10:00 a.m. until a time of remembrance at 12:00 p.m. Memorials to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Carl’s name are appreciated.
