Janice L. Nowak, age 86, of Sheboygan, died on Sunday April 21, 2024 at the Shores of Sheboygan. She was born in Sheboygan on August 22, 1937, the daughter of the late John and Helen Godard Klunk.
Janice attended Cleveland Elementary and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1955. On August 4, 1956, she was united in marriage to Allen Nowak at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Janice was employed at Golden Harbor assisted living for 10 years, until her retirement. Prior to Golden Harbor she worked at G.C. Murphy at Memorial Mall, helping to set up the store to open and was employed there until it closed.
Janice volunteered at Memorial Hospital, the church food pantry and was a eucharistic minister at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.
Survivors include her husband, Allen Nowak, of Sheboygan; three children, Ann (Dale) DeBlaey, of Sheboygan Falls, Deb (Mike) Develski, of Plymouth, and Nancy (Steve) Schroeter, of Sheboygan; three grandchildren, Amy (David) Cooper, of Kalamazoo, MI, Christopher Puddy, of Sheboygan, and Ashley DeBlaey, of Maimi, FL; a great-grandchild, James Cooper; and a brother-in-law, Bernie Nowak, of Sheboygan. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends further survive. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Leonard and Louise Nowak, and infant daughter, Catherine Nowak, brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Sharon Klunk, Gene and Donna Klunk, Clifford Klunk, MaryAnn Bellinder, and Bernice DenDekker.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Janice will be celebrated on Monday, April 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan. Family and friends may gather at the church on Monday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Janice’s name. A special thank you to the Sharon S. Richarson Community Hospice, and the entire team at The Shores of Sheboygan, especially Tanya, Lydia, and Jo for all your compassion and care during her stay.
