Norman J. Metz, age 81, of Sheboygan, died surrounded by his family and friends on Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Sheboygan Progressive Care Center. He was born in Athens, WI on August 9, 1942, the son of the late Ben and Myrtle (Kornack) Metz.
Norman attended and graduated from Medford High School in 1960. He then enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country from 1960 to 1963. On July 3, 1965, he was united in marriage to Jacquelyn K. Strutz at Ss. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Jacquelyn preceded Norman in death on April 27, 2012.
He was employed as a material handler for Kohler Company for 24 years, retiring in 1993. Norman was a current member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. He was also an avid Green Bay Packers, Milwaukee Brewers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Nascar fan.
Survivors include his three children, Scott (Lisa) Metz, of Sheboygan, Roy (Barb) Metz, of Howards Grove, and Tina (Tom) Jonet, of Green Bay; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Rebekkah, Lydia, and Matthew Metz, and Megan Jonet; a great-granddaughter, Anaelis Vega(daughter of Elizabeth); four sisters, Carol (Dan) Pozanc, of Winona, MN, Mary (Bill) Yessa, of Edgar, WI, Barbara (Dan) Williams, of Reedsburg, WI, and Karen (Jerry) Roberts, Medford, WI; and his two brothers, Ray (Marilyn) Metz, and Kurt (Deb) Metz, both of Medford, WI. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends further survive. Norman was preceded in death by his wife, and a brother, John Metz.
Family and friends may gather for visitation at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street Sheboygan, on Tuesday, April 30, from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday, May 1, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 1305 Humboldt Ave. Sheboygan with Fr. Paul Fliss officiating.
Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum at Greenlawn Memorial Park. VFW Post 9156 will be providing full military honors.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Norman’s name. A heartfelt thank you is extended to the Progressive Care Center, the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, and his roommate and friend, Rodney McCall for the friendship, compassion and care that was given to Norman.
