Walter J. Shellingosky

Walter “Wally/Sonny” J. Shellingosky III age 78, of Sheboygan, died on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Pine Haven Residential Home in Sheboygan Falls. He was born in Sheboygan on November 15, 1945, to the late Walter W. and Irene Kadow Shellingosky II.

Walter attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan South High School. On July 11, 1964, he was united in marriage to Sandra Miller. Sandra preceded him in death on April 13, 2024. Walter was employed at the Garton Toy Factory, and then for 40 years he was a salesman at Thompson Honda/Marine until his retirement.

He was a current member of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church in Sheboygan. Walter enjoyed racing his ’57 Chevy at Plymouth, Slinger, and Kaukauna racetracks. He participated in a few demolition derby’s as well. Walter was a NASCAR and Green Bay Packer fan also and was a nature lover.

Survivors include his three children, Jeanine “Gina” (Steve) Wakefield, Jodi Shellingosky, and Walter Scott Shellingosky IV, all of Sheboygan; two grandchildren, Derek (Tori) Wakefield, of Adell, and Nicole (Levi) Bender, of Howards Grove; eight great-grandchildren, Mason, Noah, Lincoln, Ana, Harrison, Ruby, Chase, and Beckham; and a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and John Vertacic, of Sheboygan. Many other relatives and friends further survive.

A funeral service for Walter will be held on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan with Fr. Kenneth Anyanwu officiating. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Wednesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Sheboygan.

A heartfelt thank you is extended to Pine Haven, the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice, and the neighbors on Knoll Crest Drive for the compassion and care that was given to Walter. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Walter’s name. Online condolences may be expressed at www.reinboldfh.com

Wally sold me my motorcycle which I still have. He also had his purple pick up truck outfitted at my shop. It was a little humorous for me at the time because afterwards he came back and told me that the engine was too small for the truck. The accessories that we installed changed the aerodynamics and the truck didn't have enough power to pass or climb hills. He was a great guy. Sorry I missed the funeral, I do not check obits regularly. I enjoyed my time with him.
