Karen F. Rusch, 83, of Sheboygan, passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2024 at Aurora Medical Center Sheboygan County from complications following a recent stroke.
Karen was born in Sheboygan on May 25, 1941 to Louis and Malinda Weber. She attended Sheboygan Immanual Lutheran School and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1959. Karen was united in marriage to Victor A. Rusch on November 3, 1962.
Karen grew up on a cattle farm and enjoyed working at the family’s Christmas tree lot (Weber’s Trees). After graduation she worked for the Sheboygan County Agricultural Department. She volunteered countless hours at the school library and eventually became library assistant. Karen taught Sunday School at Immanuel Lutheran Church for 10 years. In 2000 she retired from Lincoln Erdman Elementary School.
Karen was a talented crafter, sewer, decorator, gardener, and baker. She also enjoyed decorating wreaths and swags for Woodland Trees Farm. Her and Victor loved everything outdoors, especially camping and fishing. They enjoyed traveling, with their most memorable trips being visiting family in Germany, touring numerous US national parks with their camper, and tenting in Alaska. More than anything, Karen loved spending time with her grandchildren and family.
Karen is survived by her husband of 62 years, Victor; her sons, Cory (Fay) Rusch and Craig (Julie) Rusch of Sheboygan Falls; her grandchildren, Cassy (Nathan) Fries, Cody (Aubree) Rusch, Brandon Bernabo, Rebecca Bernabo, and Karisa (significant other, Joe) Rusch; her great grandchildren, Noah and Wes Fries, and Elle Rusch; her brother, Dan (Karen) Weber; her brother-in-law, Mario Rico; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents Louis and Malinda Weber; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Arthur and Irma Rusch; her brother and sister-in-law, Louis Jr. and Kathleen Weber; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Willis (Harriet) Rusch, Arthur Rusch, Mildred (Frederick) Fischer, Rosemary (Robert) Reinke, Ruth Rico; and her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Rusch.
A visitation will take place Monday, September 16, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan with a memorial service to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 6706 Superior Ave., Sheboygan at 2:00 p.m.
