James “Jim” H. Meyer

James “Jim” H. Meyer, age 83, of Sheboygan, died on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at St. Nicholas Hospital. He was born on August 9, 1941, the son of the late Bernard and Mae Belle (Meisfeld) Meyer.
Jim attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central in 1959. He then attended Weeden Barber College in Chicago. On March 24, 1962, he was united in marriage to Sue Ellen Birge. Jim was employed as a barber at Shaver’s Stylists for over thirty years, until his retirement.
He was a member of St. Mark Lutheran Church. He was a member of the Men’s Club, a church usher, and a trustee as well. Jim and Sue were camp hosts at Kohler Andrae State Park for 34 years. Being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed camping, traveling, and bow hunting. Jim was a fan of the Brewers, Packers, and Badgers.
Survivors include his wife, Sue Ellen, of Sheboygan; two children, Rory (Barb) Meyer, of Deerfield, WI, and Cori James, of Beloit, WI; ten grandchildren, Lindsay (Kyler) Huisman, Jenna Meyer, Elena, Evan, and Anna James, Kelsey (Noah) Wilterdink, Tanner Mantel, Luke (Emily) Mantel, Max (Maren) Race, and Makenna (Jack) Samse; three great-grandchildren, Everly, Everett, and Mary Jo, and one great-granddaughter on the way, Mae; two brothers, Jack Meyer, and Brian (Teri) Meyer; three sisters-in-law, Cathy (Vince) Kotnik, Janice (Ben) Hussey, and Judy Meyer; and a son-in-law, Dean (Paula) Mantel. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Jim is preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Jodi Mantel, grandson, Chase Mantel, and his brother, Gary Meyer.
A memorial service for James will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mark Lutheran Church, 1019 N. 7th Street, Sheboygan, with Pastor Tyler Werner officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Burial will take place at a later date at Wildwood Cemetery.
A special thank you is extended to the staff at Pine Haven Christian Community and St. Nicholas Hospital for the compassion and care that was given to Jim.
