Charlotte “Char” Duecker, 91, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully on September 19, 2025.
Char was born on August 31, 1934, and lived a life marked by boundless love, a vibrant spirit, and an unwavering commitment to others. On February 13, 1965, she married Kurt Duecker. Together, they built a beautiful family and were devoted members of First Congregational Church since their marriage. Kurt preceded her in death in 1998, but their legacy lived on through their three children: Maribeth, Tom (Jodi), and Dave (Lisa).
Char’s joy multiplied with the arrival of her grandchildren: Sara (Alek), Becca (Isaha), Tom and Adam, born to Maribeth; Madison (Avery) and Kurt (Maria), born to Tom and Jodi; and Emily and Anna, born to Dave and Lisa. She was also delighted to become a great-grandmother to NarinĂ©, daughter of Kurt and Maria. Char is also survived by her beloved sister, Nancy (Joel) Jetzer, with whom she shared a special bond.
After Kurt’s passing, Char was blessed to find companionship and joy with Gene Conger for the past 22 years. With Gene, her family expanded to include his children Scott (Melissa), Carra-Lyn (Branden) and Greg (Terri), and along with grandchildren Lauren, Emily, and T.J., born to Carra-Lyn. Together, Char and Gene embarked on countless adventures, traveling, sharing their love for music with the Lakeshore Chorale, and dedicating their time to serving the community through Meals on Wheels. Most importantly, they cherished every moment spent with their children and grandchildren, creating beautiful memories.
Char was known for her incredibly caring nature, always prioritizing the needs of others before her own. Her infectious sense of humor brought laughter and light to every gathering, and her warmth touched the hearts of all who knew her. She will be profoundly missed by her family, friends and community.
A celebration of Char’s remarkable life will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at First Congregational Church, 310 Bluff Avenue, Sheboygan. Visitation will take place from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a service from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM. At 1:00 PM, the family invites all to join them at one of Char’s favorite places, 3 Sheeps, for an afternoon of shared laughter, just as Char would have wanted. In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to Meals on Wheels of Sheboygan County (www.freshmealsonwheels.org) or funds received in memoriam will be put towards staff appreciation at Sheboygan Senior Community (Sheboygan Senior Community – A nonprofit continuum of nursing care facility) to recognize and reward the dedicated caregivers and support staff who lovingly cared for Char.
