Niles L. Borth, age 97, of Black River, WI, died on Friday, November 21, 2025, at his home. He was born in Junction City, WI on March 30, 1928, to Arleigh and Eva Swanson Borth.
He graduated from Runkels School in Junction City in 1944. Niles then married Darlyn Lugg at The Salvation Army on May 13, 1949, in Sheboygan. After the death of his beloved first wife, he married Kay Bender on June 18, 1999.
Niles was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Northwest theatre, Aleutian Islands, Dutch Harbor, and Hawaii on the Yuma ATF 94. (Atlantic Tug Fleet 94)
Niles was an auto mechanic, learning basic mechanical skills during his early days on the farm. He went on to earn various certifications in auto mechanics through Gale Chevrolet and Continental Baking Company. He was a member of the Teamsters Union and although he officially retired in 1985, he continued to work in his home garage for thirty more years. Family, friends, and neighbors could always count on an honest and fair repair from Niles.
He was an avid fisherman and he especially enjoyed annual trips to Lake of the Woods and Lake Despair in Canada. He also enjoyed hunting, camping, traveling, and gardening. In his later years, Niles could usually be found in his garage repairing the small engines of lawn mowers and snowblowers. He had lived in his original home in Black River for over 75 years.
Niles is survived by his four sons, and daughter, Keith (Lorrie) Borth, Bonnie (David) Clark, Dennis, Michael, and John Borth; a daughter-in-law, Lynn(Joe) Heideman; step children, Clarence (Esther) Herman, Richard Herman, Theresa (Chris) Wodine, Roy (Rose) Bender, and Micheal (Tracy) Bender; grandchildren, Debbie (John) Veldboom, Scott Borth (fiancé Nicole Brost), Jonathan Clark, Becky (David) Eagle, Ben (Heather) Clark, Jamie Borth (boyfriend Bob Schwalb), Jeremy Borth(fiancé Candice Koropov), Jesse (Elizabeth) Adamavich, and Nickki Olson. He is further survived by his fourteen great-grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren; a brother-in-law, Darrell (Shirley) Lugg, and a sister-in-law, Colleen Lugg.
Niles was preceded in death by his parents, wives, Daryln and Kay, son, Tyler Borth, stepson, Steve Herman, brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles (Joyce) Borth, Gene Borth, Louis (Charlene) Borth, sisters and brothers-in-law, Arlene (Harold) Heck, Marjorie (Elmer) Schultz, Ruthann (Jim) Johnson, Dorothy (Al) Collins, and Ronald Lugg.
A funeral service for Niles will be held on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan, WI, with Pastor Jon MacDonald officiating. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Sunrise Memorial Gardens in the Town of Wilson.
