Virgil Schultz

Virgil Schultz, a longtime resident of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, passed away at age 89 on February 15, 2026 in Osage Beach, Missouri.

Virgil was born in 1936 to the Reverend William and Ida (Recker) Schultz and was the youngest of nine children. He graduated from Kiel High School in 1954. After high school, he worked for over 30 years for Piggly Wiggly in Sheboygan, where he served as store manager for many years. After retirement, he worked for 25 years at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home.

Virgil was a lifelong sports fan. He especially loved the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs and St. Louis Cardinals. He liked attending summer festivals in Milwaukee and auto races at Road America. He also enjoyed traveling and dining out with friends.

Virgil is survived by his wife of 47 years, Sharon Schultz; sons Randy (Kim) Schultz of Golden, Colorado; and Larry (Nancy) Schultz of Zionsville, Indiana; his wife’s daughters, Lisa Metzner-Rosas of Scottsdale, Arizona and Lora Metzner of Aliso Viejo, California; grandchildren Ellie Schultz of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Abby Schultz of Denver, Colorado; step-grandson Sebastian Rosas of Scottsdale, Arizona; Sharon’s sister, Debbie (Gretz) Grant and her husband Ken Grant of Osage Beach, Missouri; and many other relatives and friends.

Virgil was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and four sisters.

The family would like to recognize and give deepest thanks to family and friends who Virgil cherished over the years, including Debbie and Ken Grant and their friends in Osage Beach, Sam and Theresa Beem; longtime Sheboygan neighbors Sheri and Earl Constien, Heidi Carpenter, Richard Boden, and Pam Schneekloth; his wife Sharon’s former co-workers for enjoyable dinners and discovering new restaurants; his former bosses Mike and Heidi Reinbold; his longtime friend Jim Beine, for the emotional support, comfort and friendship he graciously shared; and his former Piggly Wiggly colleagues for staying in touch long after Virgil retired, with phone calls, visits, photos.
