David Stelter, age 69, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, January 6, 2019 at the Pine Haven Christian Home in Sheboygan Falls. He was born in DeKalb, IL on August 1, 1949, the son of the late Rev. Herbert and Gloria Sackett Stelter. The family lived in Hinckley, IL until 1962 when Rev. Stelter accepted a call to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Sheboygan.
David attended Immanuel Lutheran School and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1967. He then furthered his education at Concordia in Milwaukee, Fort Wayne, Indiana and St. Louis, Missouri.
On June 12, 1971, he was united in marriage to Ellen Vandre in Rochelle, Illinois.
David was employed at Ross Glove Company for twenty-eight years, leaving as plant manager. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Congregation.
Survivors include his wife, Ellen, of Sheboygan; a daughter, Tracy (Jon) Schrantz, of Waukesha; his son, Cody Stelter, of Sheboygan; one granddaughter, Amber Schrantz; his brother, Tom (Sandy) Stelter, of Sheboygan; a sister-in-law, Christine Vandre (Dan Dietrich) of Peoria, IL; and brother-in-law, Larry Vandre, of East Dundee, IL. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
A funeral service for David will be held on Friday, January 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1634 Illinois Ave., Sheboygan with Rev. Wayne King officiating. Family and friends may gather at church on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at the Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in David’s name may be directed to Immanuel Lutheran School in Sheboygan. The family would like to thank his Aurora Healthcare givers and the caring staff at the Pine Haven Christian Home.
