Stanley J. “Stan” Schreiber, age 90, of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully at home September 20, 2022.

Stan was born in Sheboygan on May 28, 1932, a son of late Milton B. Schreiber and Edna I. Bartzen Schreiber. Stan attended Sheboygan grade schools, graduated from North High School in 1950 and graduated from the University of Wisconsin Madison in 1954.

Stan worked at Milwaukee County General Hospital until he returned to Sheboygan in 1960 where he received his real estate/broker’s license.

On March 21, 1963, Stan was united in marriage to Nancy Ziegler. Nancy preceded Stan in death on May 28, 2018. In 1964 Stan and Nancy were blessed with a son Scott. In 1970 they built a home on the shore of Lake Michigan where they lived for 48 years.

In 1979, Stan and Nancy started their own real estate firm “The Schreiber Company Inc.” and he had an active license until 2016. His son Scott continues to operate the Schreiber Company.

Over the years, Stan’s passion was golfing with a group he helped start at Riverdale Golf Course in 1967. Only rain and snow kept him off the golf course but then he discovered there was a golf simulator at Maple Lanes which extended golf to 365 days a year.

When not working or golfing, Stan was always in search of a good deal. He was well known at all the department and thrift stores in Sheboygan County! In the 80’s, Stan developed a passion for raising young horses. He never rode but loved being around them and the colorful people in the horse industry. He enjoyed watching the Milwaukee Bucks, Milwaukee Brewers, Green Bay Packers, UW-Madison Badgers, and sharing his love of Christian music with residents of the many local senior living homes. Stan rekindled his passion for hunting later in life when he discovered turkey hunting and fishing on Lake Michigan on the family boat. Some of Stan’s happiest times were spent with his only son, Scott, and only grandson, Thomas, in the field and on the water.

Survivors include: son Scott Schreiber; daughter-in-law Marcia (Grennan) Schreiber; grandson Thomas Stanley Schreiber; brother-in-law James Ziegler, all of Sheboygan. He is further survived by nieces, great nieces and nephews.

Stan and Scott extend their sincere appreciation to his caregivers, without whom he would not have been able to spend his final days at home. A special thank you to the Sharon S. Richardson Community Home Hospice team for their wonderful care. Stan wanted to acknowledge his close friend, George Richards, for his care and thoughtfulness over many years.

Stan strongly believed that Jesus Christ is his Lord and Savior and that Jesus died on the cross for his sins.

A private celebration of life is being planned. Condolences may be expressed online at www.reinboldfh.com.
