Gretchen Stein Levezow passed away on November 27, 2025, at Froedtert hospital surrounded by family. She was battling cancer for 4 years and died after contracting an acute infection. She was born in Milwaukee, WI, on March 31, 1950, to Arthur L. Stein and Eileen O’Leary Stein.

Gretchen grew up in Milwaukee, attending Sacred Heart Catholic School and Bay View High School. She subsequently graduated from Marquette University where she studied theatre and math, and was an active member of the Milwaukee theatre community during her time there. After graduation, she moved to Sheboygan and met her future husband Robert ‘Bob’ Levezow.

On November 28, 1980, Gretchen and Bob were married, and they welcomed their daughter, Meara Leigh, on November 21, 1981. Gretchen became a beloved fixture in Sheboygan and worked as an accountant at several different organizations, most recently the Salvatorian Center in New Holstein. Later in life, she found a bosom pal in her beloved daughter-in-law, Ro Reddick, who was married to Meara in 2018.

Gretchen enjoyed attending the theater, traveling the country, playing cards, doing crossword puzzles, and reading voraciously. She loved spending time with her seven siblings in Milwaukee and was blessed to spend her past few years in the constant companionship of her sisters. She visited the great cities and natural sites across the U.S., and loved making frequent trips to New York City to visit her daughter and daughter-in-law and take in Broadway shows.

Gretchen is survived by her daughter, Meara and daughter-in-law, Ro. She is also survived by her sisters Stephanie Sue Stein, Christine Siekierski, Heidi Bourne, Lorelei Stein; her sisters-in-law Mary Stein, Shelia Levezow, and Christina Zawatzke; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her older brother John Stein, younger brother Jim Stein, and younger sister Melanie Lindseth; sister-in-law Nancy Stein; brothers-in-law Bill and John Levezow and Jay Lindseth; beloved nephew Tommy Stein and great-nephew Levi Klick; her parents; and her parents-in-law, Howard and Ann Levezow.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, followed by a short remembrance service from 12:00 to 12:30 p.m.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Evan Wenig, NP Kristin Lohr, and all the wonderful staff at Green Bay Oncology, and Dr. Karen Carlson at the Cancer Center in Froedtert Hospital for their exceptional care during her final months.

Even though we weren't really related, I will always consider Gretchen to be my 5th Sister. I'm very lucky that I was able to have the friendship of Bob & Gretchen in my life. ❤️
