Arlene R. Kiefer, age 86, of Sheboygan, died on Sunday, September 17, 2023, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. She was born in Sheboygan on July 24, 1937, the daughter of the late Lyle and Rosella Carriveau LePean.
Arlene attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1955. On May 3, 1958, she was united in marriage to Donald Ronspies. They enjoyed 45 years of marriage together. Don preceded Arlene in death on January 26, 2004. Arlene then remarried on October 27, 2006, to Donald Kiefer and they were together for 16 years. Arlene and her first husband were the owner and operators of “Don’s Sunnyside Foods” in Sheboygan for 20 years, until their retirement in 2001. She was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Sheboygan.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Arlene also loved camping, painting, growing her African Violets, and going on her many cruises through the years. She was always up for a competitive game of marbles with her grandchildren and having lunch with her high school classmates.
Survivors include her husband, Don Kiefer, of Sheboygan; two daughters, Joy (Joel) Soerens, of Sheboygan, and Carla (Philip) Duket, of Cloquet, MN; five grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie) Soerens, of Green Cove Springs, FL, Lindsey (Brett) Gullicksrud, of Holmen, WI, Zachary (Laura Schnell) Duket, of Duluth, MN, Austin Duket, of Minneapolis, MN, and Savanah Schachel, of Stockbridge, WI; eight great-grandchildren, Jayce, Sasha, Reece, Avery, Xavier, J.C., Easton, and Emmett; a son-in-law, Brian Schachel, of Stockbridge, WI; and her furry companion, Kody. Arlene is further survived by many other extended family members, and other relatives and friends. Her parents, first husband Donald Ronspies, a daughter, Lori Schachel, and her brother, Myron LaPean, all preceded her in death.
A funeral service for Arlene will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th Street, Sheboygan with Fr. Paul Fliss officiating. Family and friends may gather at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery and Mausoleum.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established in Arlene’s name.
