August J. “Augie” Schmidt, 90, of Sheboygan, passed away at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice on Sunday, May 9, 2021. Augie was born on June 8, 1930 to the late August and Erna (Kloppenberg) Schmidt. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy as an Electrician in 1950 and was honorably discharged in 1954. Augie was united in marriage to Joann Hardy at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church on July 23, 1955. After 31 years of employment in appliance repair at Bitter Neumann, Augie retired in 1994. Augie was known as someone who could fix anything. Anything. He and his wife Joann are members of St. Peter Claver Catholic Church.
Augie is survived by his wife, Joann Schmidt; children, David (Deb) Schmidt, Kathy (Gene) Bohnhoff, Gary (Gabrielle) Schmidt, Patricia (Leon) Belitz, Daniel Schmidt, Jean (Fred) Brooks and Robert (Kelly) Schmidt; grandchildren, Christina Cramey, Andy, Paul and Tim Bohnhoff, Ryan Chris and Jacob Wasielewski, Steven, Michael and Jonathan Schmidt, Ashley and Sarah Belitz, Mason, Max and Lennon Schmidt; eight great-grandchildren; sister, Carol (David) Given; brother-in-law, Richard (Therese) Hardy and sisters-in-law, Mary (Robert) Conto and Betty Hardy.
He is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Gloria and Helen; brother, Donald; brother-in-law, Tom Hardy and sister-in-law, Donna Molitor.
There will be a Funeral Mass at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. There will be a time for visitation at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
