Barbara “Ruth” Subat passed away peacefully at her home on July 14, 2022.
Ruth was born June 13, 1931 in Waynesburg, PA and has now gone home to be with the Lord, her husband of many years Edwin Subat, her brothers Roger, Roy, Earl and her beloved sister Catherine.
Ruth is survived by her children: Alice Gayheart Zacharek (Bodo), Henry “Bud” Gayheart (Mary), and Michael Subat (Jane); grandchildren: David Nischik (Amy), Cathy Nischik, Evan Gayheart, Trevor Gayheart (Hazel), Atticus Subat and Peri Subat; nephews: Steve Hamilton, Earl John Parsons, Eddie Parsons, Ron Parsons, Robert Kapostasy; nieces: Rita Klein and Jean Parsons.
Family meant the world to Ruth, and she was proud to hold the position of the matriarchal figure for all of her family. She was always there for her family whenever you needed a shoulder to cry on, some wise advice or as your fierce defender.
Ruth was loved by many people whose lives she touched including the many children she helped raise as a caretaker and the many good friends she had. She enjoyed a good joke, playing cards, scrabble and, of course, her game show channel.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to Janice, Dorothy, Annie, Donna, Betty and Scott for their years of friendship and care. The family would also like to thank the staff of Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their wonderful care and keeping her comfortable in her last days.
This beautiful lady will be sorely missed by many but never forgotten. At Ruth’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice (ssrhospicehome.org)
