Betty Ann (Haack) Johnson, 82, of Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, passed away on March 15, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, dedication to education, and a deep love for her family and friends.

Betty was born on September 27, 1943, to Arno and Beatrice Haack. She grew up in Kohler and graduated from Kohler High School in 1961. She went on to attend the University of Wisconsin–Madison, where she earned both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Education, beginning a lifelong passion for teaching.

Betty devoted 35 years to elementary education in Wisconsin, teaching in Appleton, the Monona Grove area, and Brookfield before spending the final 25 years of her career in Sheboygan. There, she taught at Cleveland and James Madison Elementary Schools, where generations of students benefited from her patience, encouragement, and care. A proud educator, Betty was a part of Delta Kappa Gamma, a professional honor society for women educators, and the Sheboygan County Area Retired Teachers Association (SCARTA). She also held membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR). Betty was active at First United Lutheran Church in Sheboygan, where she participated in the New Spirit Circle.

On August 10, 1991, Betty married Carl J. Johnson, with whom she shared many happy years of companionship and family life. The two enjoyed long drives in the country, walking at Terry Andrae State Park, going out to eat, traveling, and spending time with friends. Betty and Carl were a wonderful match, finding in each other love, understanding, and companionship that enriched both of their lives.

Betty was an avid Wisconsin Badgers fan, a sweet treats enthusiast, and a huge dog lover. Family and friends will remember Betty for the warmth and big hugs she shared with everyone around her and for the many ways she went out of her way to make others happy. With her spunky spirit and candid nature, she never hesitated to speak her mind. Her treasured moments with her grandchildren and her lifelong friendships evoke feelings of love and gratitude. Her steady faith and the kindness, generosity, and care she showed to others continue to inspire those who knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Beatrice and Arno Haack; her husband, Carl J. Johnson; and her grandson, Brady. Betty leaves behind her stepsons, John Johnson, Douglas Johnson (Beth), and Timothy Johnson (Julie). She was a proud and loving grandmother to Alexi Johnson (Hannah), Alex Strege, Sam Strege, Aidan Johnson, Mackenzie Johnson (Bryce), Riley Johnson, and Satchel Johnson. She also leaves behind many dear friends whose lives she touched through her kindness and generosity.

A memorial service celebrating Betty’s life will be held at First United Lutheran Church, 2401 Kohler Memorial Drive, Sheboygan on Saturday, March 28, at 10:00 a.m. Please join us in honoring Betty’s legacy and sharing memories with family and friends. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to do so may direct memorial donations in her honor to Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice. Betty will be laid to rest in the Columbarium of Peace at First United Lutheran Church, reunited with her beloved husband, Carl.

To have known Betty was an honor and a blessing. What a dear friend she was; she will be sorely missed by not only myself but to everyone who knew her. Betty and I bared our souls together and in the end our last words to each other were "I believe." Rest well Betty, our good and faithful servant.

I enjoyed Bible study with Betty in the New Spirit Circle group at First United for many years. She blessed our group with kindness, laughter, wisdom, and grace. Personally, she was a wonderful encourager to me when I was a working mom trying to raise children and balance all the things in life. She believed in me and always saw the good things in people. I loved Betty and will always picture her with her beautiful smile and enough love to fill every heart who knew her. May God reveal his love for you in this season of sadness and give you hope in the promise of eternal life.

Betty was a dear, dear friend, always thinking lovingly of others. We are out of state and will not be able to attend her memorial service, but she will remain in our hearts forever. Our sympathy to her "sons" and their families.

Sending heartfelt condolences to Betty and Carl's family. Betty was a dear friend to my mother Ethel as Carl was to my father John. May you find comfort in knowing that in heaven they are enjoying each other’s company again.

Our sympathy to your family. Betty was a wonderful neighbor to my parents, Richard and Carol Schoneman. Such a thoughtful and kind lady.
