Betty R. Vanic, age 86, of Howards Grove, died on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at Harvest Home in Howards Grove. She was born in Sheboygan on July 12, 1939, the daughter of the late John and Sophie Zitzer Schneider.
Betty attended Ebenezer Lutheran Grade School and graduated from Sheboygan Central High School in 1957. On May 17, 1969, she was united in marriage to Richard Vanic at Ebenezer Lutheran Church. Richard preceded her in death on August 30, 2012.
She was employed as a secretary at Honald & LaPage, Heritage/Acuity Insurance, and the Kohler Company. Betty enjoyed traveling to Europe, Costa Rica, and Australia. She also loved going to casinos with her husband & friends, going out to eat, reading, cross-stitching, watching Wheel of Fortune, Facebook, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events and other activities, and going Sheboygan Lutheran High School events. She was a current member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Sheboygan. Betty was an avid Wisconsin Badger and Milwaukee Brewer fan as well.
Survivors include her two sons, Christopher (Christine) Vanic, of Sheboygan Falls, and Patrick Vanic, of Howards Grove; her former daughter-in-law, Ellen Vanic; grandchildren, Sophie and Logan Vanic, Benjamin, David, Joseph, and Nathaniel Vanic. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends further survive. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, husband, her brothers, and sisters.
A funeral service for Betty will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1614 S. 23rd Street, Sheboygan with Pastor Christian Gugel officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Wednesday afternoon from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. Entombment will take place in the Gardens of Peace Mausoleum at Lutheran Cemetery.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to staff at Harvest Home for the care given to mom. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions in Betty’s name may directed to Sheboygan Lutheran High School and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.
