Carol A. LeMahieu, age 57, of Sheboygan passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning June 9, 2020. Carol was born March 11, 1963 in Cicero, Illinois to the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Davids) Post. Carol graduated from Timothy Christian High School in Elmhurst, Illinois and then furthered her education at Trinity Christian College in Palos Heights, Illinois where she earned her B.A. in elementary education. She married Kurt LeMahieu on June 18, 1988 at Ebenezer Christian Reformed Church in Berwyn, Illinois.

Carol found her true calling in the classroom, with an incredible career spanning 34 years. She spent one year in Vermont immediately following her graduation before teaching at Delevan Christian School. She began teaching at Sheboygan Christian School in 1990 and was able to share the love of Jesus there for 30 wonderful years.

Carol’s love for children went beyond the classroom, as she was active for many years in the nursery and children’s ministry at Calvin Christian Reformed Church in Sheboygan. Carol currently attended Christ Community Church in Sheboygan. An avid reader, she was never too far from a book. Carol loved nature, and greatly enjoyed watching the birds from her kitchen window as well as going for drives along the lakefront.

Survivors include her loving husband Kurt, daughter Sarah, son David, brothers John (Doris) Post, Thomas (Sandi) Post, sister Clarissa (Jake) VanBelle, aunts, uncles and other relatives and friends.

Kurt, Sarah and David, we were devastated to hear about Carol. She was amazing, kind, loving... a fabulous human being and teacher. Hannah was just telling me about the basketball unit they did in first grade. Because she was so tiny she could never get the basketball close to the hoop, but one day Carol held her up so she could slam dunk the ball. That little act of kindness is an example of the type of love and service that Carol gave to everyone. I hope it gives you some comfort to know how many lives she touched and how deeply loved she was and will continue to be. Holding you all up in prayer.

Tamara Lucas

Kurt and Family, We are truly saddened by the sudden passing of your wife and mother. Words seem so empty at a time like this, but please know that you are in our prayers. God be with you through this difficult time and give you strength. Sincerely, Michael & Tammy (Ledeboer) Lucas

My heart and prayers go out to you. Through all the confusion and grief, I know the Lord God has the perfect plan, and has always had the perfect plan, and nothing happens without His ultimate control, and He and will always be with you, and guide, strengthen, and comfort you. She is eternally with Him, and is truly home where she is destined with Him, shedding this life and “metamorphasized” into a beautiful “butterfly” home at last.

I was in 5th grade this year and I was very very sad to hear that Mrs. L past away. When I heard the news I started to cry right there. What I most remember about her was when she would always stop me in the hall just to say hi and to talk to me. I am so sorry for your loss and we will keep your family in our prayers.

My family was shocked and saddened to hear about the passing of Carol yesterday. She was a wonderful first grade teacher! Over the past school year I developed a good rapport with her. I would often talk with her after school when I picked up Kassidy. She was in her first grade class this year. I saw her last week as did Kassidy when we dropped off school materials. Kassidy was able to say goodbye to Mrs. L, and gave her a big hug. She told Kassidy to keep reading over the summer! She will be missed. I know she is shining her light in heaven. During the past 2 months of remote learning she put her heart into weekly bible stories for the 1st grade class and would read from the bible or tell a story on seesaw. There were times the kids had to record their voices on seesaw for assignments. Kassidy would always end it by saying, "Bye Mrs. L." Special words from Mrs. L to Kassidy whether written on her report card or said verbally was this: " Do your best to honor God everyday in all you do!" We pray for peace, comfort and rest for your family knowing that she is with our Lord and Savior. Love David & Kari, Kassidy & Eliza

Prayers and Deepest sympathy to Carol’s family! My heart breaks for you! My daughter, Mariana, had the privilege of being her student last year. A Wonderful teacher, caring, creative and fun. I was blessed to do lunch duty every Wednesday this year with Carol. She would often talk about her family and how proud she was of her 2 kids. She was a gem! She will be deeply missed!

Dear LeMahieu family. Our deepest sympathy to you. Mrs. L as the children call her was our granddaughter Kassidy's 1st grade teacher this year. What a blessing she has been bringing the joy and fun of learning to her and all the children. We would hear what Kassidy had done in class and when the students were at home we learning at home we heard how Mrs. L would talk to each one on Zoom. She was a loving, encourager teacher and friend. Since we heard the sad news have been praying for your family. Jesus said, 'I go to prepare a place for you that where I am you may be also.' May God bless and comfort each of you at this difficult time.

Dear Kurt, Sarah, and David, I am heartbroken for your sudden and tremendous loss. Your wife/mom's passion for children and Christian education was so evident in her daily life. I know she was proud of her family and loved you very much. I will remember her fondly for the teaching advice she gave me and especially the chats we would have at the end of a long school day. I am praying that you feel comforted by your loving Father (2 Cor 1:3-4).
