Charlotte A. Smith, age 91, of Sheboygan, passed away on Wednesday, June 4, 2025. She was born on March 20, 1934, in Freesoil, MI, to the late Conrad & Edith (Mitts) Sanders.
She graduated from Port Washington High School in 1952. Charlotte then joined the U.S. Army in 1954, where she met her husband, Gilbert Smith. He preceded in death in 1959. She was employed at Prange’s, Yonkers, and Boston Store in the restaurants.
Charlotte enjoyed going to the Senior Center and meal site to visit with friends. She also enjoyed playing bingo, Yahtzee and cards with her friends at Shores of Sheboygan Assisted Living, where she lived for the past six years.
Her favorite pastime was baking cookies, especially at Christmas. She also enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles, and regular puzzles.
Survivors include her daughter, Margaret (Randy) Petermann; son-in-law, Bruce Broder; grandchildren, Craig (Amy) Petermann, Melissa (Shawn) Soucheck, Gary Broder, and Bobby Broder; great-grandchildren, Sean Landgraf, Andrew Landgraf, Reed Soucheck, Kyra Petermann, Emily Petermann, Jessy Broder, Lily Broder, Riley Broder, Morgan Broder, Keaton Broder, and Xzavyer Broder; and her great great-grandchildren, Irelia Landgraf and Saylor Landgraf. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Charlotte was preceded in death by her parents, sons, Joseph and Albert and her daughter, Mary Broder.
A private service will be held at the Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
A heartfelt thank you is extended to staff at the Shores of Sheboygan for taking care of her and being her friend, and the Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the compassion and care that was given to Charlotte.
