Curt Ervin Brost, age 74, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, peacefully passed away at Sheboygan Health Services on March 12, 2023. He was a gentle giant with a big personality, and he will be greatly missed by family and friends.
On November 12, 1948, Curt was born to Harry and Selma (Mueller) Brost. He grew up in Sheboygan and attended North High School, Class of 1967. Curt continued his education at Lakeland College, graduating in 1971.
During Curt’s school years, he played football, basketball, ran track, and distinguished himself as a natural athlete. He played semi-professional football for the Sheboygan Red Wings.
For 32 years, Curt worked for the Kohler Company as a Senior Processing Engineer. He was instrumental in launching the Kohler Engine Plant in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
Curt enjoyed hunting, gardening, cooking, and a good campfire. If you needed someone to get the singalong going, Curt was your man. He played Cribbage, Scrabble, and card games.
A shirt-off-his-back kind of guy, Curt liked to help out wherever it was needed. In particular, he treasured the time he spent with his sister, Judy, puttering in her flower beds and bird and critter watching on her deck. He had a contagious laugh and a great sense of humor.
Over the years, Curt remained close with his in-laws, Robert and Kathleen Finger.
Curt is survived by his daughters, Tricia Brost, Port Washington, Wisconsin, and Nicole Brost (Fiancé, Scott Borth), Sheboygan, Wisconsin; three grandchildren: Abigail (Timothy) Healy, Josie Brueckner, and Alex Brueckner; and one great-grandchild, Timothy Healy; two sisters: Judy Erdman, Sheboygan, Wisconsin and Susan Hall of Virginia; sister-in law, Joan Sheedy; cousin, Dorothy Scroggins; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding Curt in death were his parents, Harry and Selma Brost; his sister, Carolyn Dudarenke; two brothers: William Brost and Wayne Brost; and sister-in-law, Carol Brost.
Heartfelt gratitude goes to Curt’s niece, Jody Erdman, who helped him with shopping, organizing, and chores. The family also wishes to thank Pine Haven, Sheboygan Health Services, and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for extraordinary care and compassion. We are forever grateful for the kind support Curt received from all the doctors and nurses that touched his life over his many years of health challenges.
Per Curt’s request, there will be no funeral services. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Online condolences may be expressed at www.reinboldfh.com

Just received notice that Curt Brost died on Sunday. We lost a great guy and a great friend. About two years ago we received word that Curt had moved to a retirement center in Sheboygan Falls. Last year we were in Sheboygan to attend a wedding, and luckily we stopped in to visit with Curt. Both Jan and I are sure glad that we did. You never know when you visit visit friends that you have not seen in a long time, if it may be the last time you see him. Unfortunately it had been many years since we had seen Curt but it appeared that he was glad that we got to spend some time with him. We had many great times together when we lived in Sheboygan, and we will always cherish the memories. Mike and Jan Mathieu

Curt was the type of person that the first time you met him you knew he was a good person. We hunted, fished and played basketball together. Always a joy to be with! A better person would be hard to find.

We are so sorry to hear about Curt’s passing. Diane and I spent many years working at Kohler with him and then had a chance to reconnect with him a few years ago along with some of the old gang when the guys played poker. Oh, they built the ship Titanic, to sail the ocean blue. For they thought it was a ship that water would never go through. It was on its maiden trip, that an iceberg hit the ship. It was sad when the great ship went down. Oh, it was sad, Oh, it was sad, It was sad when the great ship went down (to the bottom of the....) Husbands and wives and children lost their lives. It was sad when the great ship went down. KERPLUNK!

Curt's battle is done. His stoic courage humbles us. Yet thinking of him recalls such fond memories, like that fall long ago at Lakeland, He's in a better place now. RIP, Curt. #oldmuskies
