Dale R. Smies, age 62, a longtime resident of Sheboygan County passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his home. He was born in Oostburg on January 21, 1961, the son of the late Norman and Cathryn Churchill Smies.
He attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan Christian High School in 1979. Dale was employed at Curt Joa Inc. in Sheboygan Falls in the shipping department for over twenty years, and then he was an assistant manager for the south side Walmart for eleven years.
Dale enjoyed spending time at the beach. He also was a basketball fan and an all-around handy man and could fix anything.
Survivors include his son, Jacob (Hannah) Smies; two grandchildren, Gabrielle, and Jacob Jr.; sisters, Deb (Joe) Wojnarowski, and Shirl Smies; a brother, Corey Smies; and his longtime companion, Janet Kruse. Many other relatives and friends further survive Dale. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman, mother, Cathryn Vervelde, and Jacob’s mother, Katie Ireland.
In accordance to Dale’s wishes, no services will be held at this time and a cremation will take place. The family asks for your prayers during this time of mourning.
