David J. Kolb, age 90, of Sheboygan died on February 26, 2026. Dave was born in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, the son of Alex and Nola (Wick) Kolb.
He attended Sheboygan Falls High School, graduating in 1953. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and served from 1954 to 1958. Most of his enlistment was spent at Paine AFB in Everett, Washington assigned to the 321st Fighter Interceptor Squadron where he attained the rank Staff Sergeant while working as a fire control mechanic (radar) on both the F-86D and the F-89 Interceptors. While stationed in Washington, he met Darlene (Dodie) Wilkerson. Dave returned to Washington for a short time and they were married, enjoying 65 years together.
Dave attended the University of Wisconsin at Madison and obtained a BS degree in Social Work. He later attended the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee and received his MS in Education Psychology. He worked for the State of Wisconsin as a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor, retiring in 1996. After retirement he and Dodie visited many National Parks and also traveled abroad to see their children. Dave enjoyed many years of hunting; first with his father, uncle, brother, and cousin Jimmy and then with his daughter, son, and nephews – Bill, Chris and Bob.
Dave is survived by his wife, Dodie; three children Kathy (Gordy) Horn of St. Cloud, Tony (Apassara) Kolb of Springfield, Virginia and Connie (Peter Rosenthal) Kolb of New York, New York; grandchildren Khamrone Kolb, Karina Kolb, Kate Horn and Anna Horn; his sister, Karen Glickauf and sister-in-law Gladys Kolb; as well as other nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Karl Kolb and brother-in-law Daniel Glickauf. Also preceded in death by his mother-in-law Agnes Strobel, sisters-in-law Barbara, Louise, Mary and brother-in-law Robert Harner.
Relatives and friends may greet the family at the Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, on Thursday, March 5th from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at 5:00 p.m.
