I was 9 years old when I met David (10) for the first time in front of Eberhardt foods. I was smoking a cigarette on the other side of the building facing the outdoor theater. I don't remember what he said to me to get the conversation going but David became a friend of mine for the next 2 years. He came into my life when I needed someone to care about me or take the time to spend time with me. David did so. Even though our close relationship came to a close because of growing up and finding new interests we would always say hello if we ran into each other which was somewhat rare. I loved David for coming into my life to make me feel valued as a friend. My heart aches learning of his death.
