Dolores “Doe” L. Friese, formerly of Arlington Heights, IL, passed away on July 22, 2024 at St. Nicholas Hospital in Sheboygan, WI. Doe was born June 11, 1930 in Chicago to Bernhardt and Mary Warneke. For more than 20 years, Doe worked at Illinois Bell/AT&T. She was a faithful and active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Arlington Heights, IL. An avid bridge player, seamstress, and a loyal and dear friend to many, Doe loved coffee, chocolate, and baking chocolate chip cookies for her grandchildren. Among her most cherished times were summer weekends at the family cottage in Lake Geneva, trips with family and friends, and countless get-togethers with many special friends. She was also known for sending greeting cards to family and friends of all ages.

Doe is survived by her children, Beth (Lee) Zimmermann, Rev. Robert Friese, and Judy (Steve) Farwig; 4 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; her sister, Shirley; and many nieces and nephews. Doe was preceded in death by her loving husband, Edward “Butch”, and her sisters, Marie Hess and Bernie Bachar.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be sent to the Sjogren’s Foundation or the Restless Legs Syndrome Foundation.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at St. Nicholas Hospital, Sharon S. Richardson Hospice Community, and Harvest Home for their loving attention to Doe as she lived her last years in Wisconsin.

Although I met Doe later in her life, she has a permanent spot in my heart. I enjoyed braiding her hair and the conversations we would have. As well as the random songs she would sing that I would spend a lot of time searching for so I could play them for her. Your whole family is in my thoughts.
