Dolores G. Miersch (Lolita), 99, passed away on Tuesday, August 17, 2021. She was born October 3, 1921, in Chicago, IL, to Roy and Lillian Gavre.
She began playing the accordion as an entertainer at the age of sixteen. Her engaging style and charm led her to become known as “The Personality Girl.” Dolores and Russell, her husband, created a unique and colorful oriental home and garden, which was featured in the Sheboygan Press. She was a member of The Sheboygan Women’s Club, The Accordiana Club, and The Elks Club; and she was an active volunteer in the Sheboygan County Museum.

Dolores wrote two books which are housed in Mead Public Library’s Sheboygan History Collection: Reminiscences – A Sheboyganite’s Memories of Our City and the Times; and When Then Was Now.

She was preceded in death by her father, Roy Gavre; her mother, Lillian Gavre; her brother, Gerald Gavre; and her husband, Russell E. Miersch. She is survived by her daughter, Terri Vega, and her son-in-law, Ruben Vega, who reside in Mexico; and by her dear and loving friend, Marsha Schwinn, who was her caregiver and who filled her life with happiness and love.

Our most heartfelt condolences to my Aunt Terri and Tío Ruben. Lolita was a such an accomplished and creative person. She had impeccable style! Her presence lit up the room when she played the accordion. She will be greatly missed. I hope you find solace in all the wonderful memories you have of her. May she Rest In Peace. Sara

Dennis and I extend our deepest sympathy to Dolores' family. We have many fond memories, albeit not recently, of times together, laughter shared, and good music enjoyed. Her home was indeed her castle, especially on North 8th Street, and she took pride in its oriental design. We want her daughter, Teri., to know we are thinking of her and keeping her in our prayers.. Dolores was very artistic and I remember one Easter egg painting session particularly. She brought joy to her friends and family.
