Apr 24, 1928 - Nov 02, 2024
SIGN GUESTBOOK | ORDER FLOWERS AND GIFTSDoloris Ann (Baumert) Vande Vrede passed away at the age of 96, in the comfort of her apartment at Westminster Village in Scottsdale, AZ, on November 2, 2024.
Doloris was born on April 24,1928 in Sheboygan, Wisconsin to Josephine (Hurtienne) Baumert and Charles (Charlie) Baumert. Mom was a high school cheerleader, where she met Irving Vande Vrede – starting guard for Sheboygan North’s football team, and they both graduated in 1946. Dad joined the US Army in 1946 – 1948, and our parents married in 1949. They moved to Madison so Dad could attend UW Madison and obtain his finance degree.
Doloris and Irv had three sons – Dale (1957), Glenn (1959) and Carl (1965), and unfortunately, were divorced in 1972. Mom worked two jobs following their divorce and retired from F.W. Woolworth’s Central Accounting Office in 1995. She was an accomplished “B” tennis player until her mid-70’s, and was always active in her church.
Doloris relocated to Sun City West, Arizona in 2004 to be closer to Dale (Scottsdale) and Glenn (Tempe), until becoming a Westminster Village resident in 2015, where she was an active community member until 2022.
Doloris lived a full life – her first priority was her family, and she will be greatly missed. Doloris was predeceased by her parents, her sister Charlotte (Baumert) Melanz, brother-in-law Joe Melanz, and nephew Steve Melanz. Doloris is survived by Dale (Linda) – East Greenwich, RI, Glenn (Rosalia) – Tempe, AZ, Carl in Eau Claire, WI, and niece Cindy Melanz-Schaeve, Sheboygan, WI.
Our entire family is sincerely grateful to the combined care teams at Westminster Village and Hospice of the Valley for the superb level of personal and professional care which they provided during the last two years of Mom’s life.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Westminster Village Residents Assistance Fund (501c3), Scottsdale, AZ, or Hospice of the Valley, Phoenix, AZ.
Doloris will be laid to rest in Wildwood Cemetery in Sheboygan. Memorial services and a celebration of life will be private. Online condolences may be expressed at www.reinboldfh.com
