Doris Leon was born on January 25, 1949 in Sheboygan and passed away at her home peacefully on December 22, 2024 at the age of 75 surrounded by her loving family as she entered eternal life. She attended local schools and graduated from Sheboygan South High School with the class of 1967. During her working years, she was employed by Richardsons and Walgreens. Doris enjoyed the simple things in life, whether that be taking a drive through the countryside, watching Packer games, going to her church life group, or getting food with friends and family. She was a lot of people’s special “Granny D” and made a huge impact on those around her. More than anything, she enjoyed spending time making memories with her family, and being with her late dog and companion, Scooter.

Doris is survived by her son, Joseph (Cindy) Leon; grandchildren, Garett, Laticia (Jack), Shaina (Lance), Anthony; greatgrandchildren, Jordan, Jayden, Serenity, Eliana, Natalia, Sierra, Hunter, Gunner, Slade, Kelsi, Bryant and Dallas; sister, Gertrude “Cookie” (Sparky); unofficial children, Elizabeth (Luis); unofficial grandchildren, Brandi and Lorena and unofficial great grandchildren, Seyveon, Ermias, Alessio. She is further survived by other family members, friends and her Crossroads church family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Erna Jakel; brother, Anthony Jakel; sisters, Ellen Marie (Leo) Simon, Carol (Orville) Schultz and Dorothy (Dottie) Jakel and great grandson, Isaiah Kahler.

Our heartfelt sympathy to Joseph in the passing of his Mom. I knew and worked with Doris for several years with the Noon Hour program at James Madison Elementary. I am so happy to see how her family grew both through marriage and church. She was a special person.

To our sweet bonus Grannie, You’ve been such a warm and loving presence, and we are so grateful for the kindness and wisdom you’ve shared with us all. Your beautiful spirit has touched our hearts in so many ways, and we are lucky to have had you in our lives and got to know you over the years at all the gatherings. You now have a bigger purpose to watch over us and guide us with the same warmth and care you shared throughout your life. We will all carry your spirit with us always. Also, thinking of all your special loved ones and sending all our love and prayers to get through this hard hard time! Love always, The Van Ess Family (Toby, Samantha, Jax, and Grey)

I met Doris at Crossroads . We always gathered after church to talk. Her faith really grew with her Crossroads family. She will be missed
