Doris Mae Voight

Apr 28, 1931 - Apr 02, 2024

Our sweet mother, Doris Mae Voight, 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2024. She was born on April 28, 1931, in Port Wing, WI to the late Alf and Elvina (Okerstrom) Johnson. She graduated from South Shore High School in Port Wing, and went on to work at Marshall Wells in Duluth, MN.
On October 15, 1949 Doris was united in marriage to Leland Voight; they celebrated 49 years of marriage together before his passing on January 8, 1999. Doris loved being a wife and homemaker and will be remembered as a very caring person that always put her family first. She brought joy to her family by making special cakes for every occasion. She was active in the family’s commercial fishing business, Voight Brothers Fisheries in Port Wing, Kewaunee and Sheboygan. Doris was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for 64 years, singing in the choir, making braille books, and quilts for Lutheran World Relief. She also planned and served special occasion meals at church and was president of the Ladies Aide/LWML for many years. Doris and Leland loved their trips to the family cabin up north. In recent years Doris cherished the many friends she made at her apartment and later at Countryside Manor and participating in their many activities.
Doris is survived by her children, Jeffery (Peggy) Voight of Florence WI, Debbie Cesar of Sheboygan, and Mary Voight of Sheboygan Falls; grandchildren, Nicolas Voight, Abby (Scott) Schoerner, Jacob (Brook Wendorf) Voight, Lucas Voight, Stacey (Kevin) Miller, and Stuart Bartzen; great-grandchildren, Bailey, Carson, Caleb, Makayla (JoJo), Leland, Hannah, Jacob, Charlie, Nichole, Paxton; great-great-grandchildren, Carmen, Kamya and Ava; sister-in-law, Linda Voight, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents she is preceded in death by her sisters, Corrine Voight, Miriam (Irvin) Rounsville, Virginia (Emmett) Canning, and her twin Dorothy (Donald) Voight; brother, Roland Johnson; brothers-in-law, Walter Voight and Robert Voight; sister-in-law, Dolores Voight; son-in-law, Ken Cesar and two nieces Barbara and Irene.
The family would like to thank the staff at Countryside Manor and Sharon S. Richardson Hospice for their care and support.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1634 Illinois Avenue, Sheboygan, from 9:30 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM. A memorial fund has been established in Doris’s name for Immanuel Lutheran Church.
