Dorothy Rose, 79, of Sheboygan, died on Aug 16, 2024, after a short illness. She was born in Milwaukee, Wi and graduated from Washington high school in Milwaukee in 1963. Dorothy moved to the Sheboygan area in 1974 and worked at Burkart-Heisdorf, Acuity, and the Kohler Sports Core. She loved making arts and crafts with her friends and all things aquatic, especially teaching people to swim at the Sports Core. Dorothy also enjoyed going fishing up north at her nephew’s house. The family would like to thank everyone who sent cards and visited Dorothy in her last few days, and also the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the compassion and care that was given to Dorothy. A private service will take place at a later date.

God looked around his garden
And found an empty place.
He looked down upon the earth
And saw your tired face.
He put his arms around you
And lifted you to rest.
God’s garden must be beautiful
He always takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering
He knew you were in pain.
He knew that you would never
Get well on earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb.
So he closed your weary eyelids
And whispered “Peace be thine”.
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you didn’t go alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.

Dorothy and I loved to swim across the lake at Moon Beach Camp. We called her The Shark! She would finish the mile swim doing the butterfly stroke. Her kind nature will be remembered by all who knew her. I am glad she is now out of pain. So happy to have known her, Sincerely, Dee (aka The Machine)

I was so shocked and saddened to hear of Dorothy’s passing. She was an amazing dear friend. She shared a cabin with my family at Moon Beach Camp for many years! We also visited on Christmas morning with Dorothy and her sister Donna for many years. We have such fond memories of her positive personality. Swimming abilities, and creative artistic talents in jewelry making and painting. She will be missed dearly.

Goodbye Auntie Dorothy. I loved having you and your brother and sister up by me on memorial days and labor days. That sure was a nice fish you caught and on a worm! The biggest for the weekend. Missing you but rejoicing you're with Jesus who loves you so much.

Dorothy took me under her wing at the beginning of my career at the Senior Activity Center, encouraging me to feel more confident and comfortable teaching fitness classes. She called us the land and water instructors; she was absolutely made to be in the water. I'm so sad to hear this news. My heart goes out to her family, and especially Susie.

Linda Blanke

Dorothy was my swim instructor at Sports Core earlier this year. Right from the start, she put me at ease and made the lessons so enjoyable. I so enjoyed the laughs! My sympathy to her family and friends.

So sorry for the loss of Dorothy. I've spent every week with her for the last 2.5 years while she taught my son swimming lessons. We have grown to love her so deeply and are so saddened by her passing. We find joy that she is in heaven, but wish we could have just one more day. She will never be forgotten and her legacy will live on every time our son swims. We love you Miss Dorothy, and we miss you so so much, please continue rooting for Henry from heaven, we know you are so proud of him and how far he has come!
