Donald H. Echols, age 96, of Howards Grove, died on Friday, January 11, 2019 at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center. He was born in East Liverpool, Ohio on January 17, 1922, the son of the late Albert and Eva Smith Echols.
On January 17, 1945 he was united in marriage to Ann E. Heck in Chicago. She preceded him in death in October of 2009. He was an U.S. Navy Veteran and served his country during World War II in the submarine fleet. Donald was a steamship officer for the American Steamship Company, retiring in 1982.
Donald was a member of the local Sheboygan Audubon Society and he enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and camping.
Survivors include his daughter, Suzanne (Leland) Watson, of Howards Grove; three grandchildren, Brad (Laura) Watson, of Sheboygan, Jennifer (Wade) Schroeder, of Waupaca and Ben (Tanya) Watson, of Buffalo, MO; nine great-grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sarah, Alyssa, Shelby, Anna, Macy, Makayla, Michael, Marly and two great great-grandchildren, Ayvah and Ashton. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, wife and his brothers and sisters.
In accordance to Donald’s wishes no services will be held.
Donald’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the entire staff at Rocky Knoll Health Care Center for the compassion and care that was given to him.
