Edith “Cissy” Leora Ranta-Braatz was received into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 9, 2023. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, and sacrificial giving that will continue to inspire for generations.

Born on August 16, 1958, in Munising, MI to Everett F. Braatz and Edith L. Braatz. She was the second youngest of seven children. During her childhood years, she enjoyed ice skating, sledding, playing baseball, and family picnics at Pete’s Lake. She was also a proud member of the Munising Castle Rangers Drum and Bugle Corp. She later gave birth to her daughter, Nichole. While they lived in the Chicago area, she became one of the avid 1985 Chicago Bears fans. Eventually, they moved to Sheboygan, WI where for 22 years she was employed at Thomas Industries. During this time, she dedicated her life to Christ, and became a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

In 2001, she became a grandparent to her first grandchild. Eventually, to four beautiful grandchildren, and a great grandson, whom she loved dearly. She enjoyed her time with them outdoors, camping, having bonfires, cooking, and baking.

After her employment at Thomas Industries, she earned an associate degree in early childhood education. Always having been an advocate for children, she achieved her heart’s desire of becoming a foster parent to many. During which time, she adopted sisters, Alinah, and Carol. Truly enriching all their lives, she devoted her time to nurturing, loving, and raising them as her own.

In her spare time, Cissy enjoyed reading her Bible, gardening, crafting, being outdoors, singing, music ministries, church activities, and spending time with family, and friends.

Cissy is preceded in death by her parents, Everett, and Edith. She is survived by her daughters Nichole L. Kuznacic-Ranta, Alinah, and Carol. Her siblings Judith L. Wilmot (Dave), Janice L. Ver Deyn, Victoria L. Rich (John), Muriel “Evie” C. Frausto (Jesse), Dorothy “D. A.” Selak (John), and Steven M. Braatz. As well as four grandchildren, Makenna, Jack, Abigail, and Lucas Kuznacic, a great grandson, Maverick, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service for Edith will be held on Friday, December 15, 2023, at 4:00 p.m. at Bethel Baptist Church, 2411 Weeden Creek Road, Sheboygan. Family and friends may gather at the church on Friday afternoon from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service at 4:00 p.m.

Cissy was a beautiful sister in Christ and I'm glad we got to share with each other testimonies of God's faithfulness at Bible studies. She will be missed until we meet again in heaven. Prayers for the family to be surrounded by God's presence and love.

Cissy and I were very good childhood friends. Our entire families were friends. So many memories. I live in the neighborhood where Cissy grew up and am reminded of her often. God’s Peace to Cissy and all her family and friends.

My dear Aunt Cissy we are truly blessed having known you. May your life be a constant reminder to us of how precious a gift life is. As you continue on now in the presence of our Lord and Savior, singing praises to Him who sits on the throne, I can only look forward until we meet again. Thank you for everything and all the precious memories Aunt Cissy. I love you!
