Elaine (Lukaszewski) McGinley, 90, of Sheboygan, died peacefully at home on October 13, 2024 surrounded by her family. Elaine was born in Milwaukee in 1934, attended St. Josephat’s Grade School, Notre Dame High School, and received a scholarship to Mount Mary College where she majored in Home Economics.
She met Bernard “Bud” McGinley at a state-wide convention while she was an extension home agent in Calumet County and Bud was an agricultural agent in Grant County. They married in 1957 and started their family in Lancaster, WI. After spending a summer in Colorado taking care of their three young kids in a Quonset hut while Bud completed his master’s degree, “I helped him so much with his work I decided I should get my own master’s.” After moving to Sheboygan in 1964, Elaine, Bud and their children spent summers on campuses around the country while Elaine continued her education. She eventually received her master’s degree from UW-Madison. Once their youngest child was in first grade, Elaine began her many years of teaching home economics in the Sheboygan Area School District. After retiring from teaching, Elaine and Bud enjoyed years of traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Elaine was involved in many organizations including Shuttlecraft Guild, Wisconsin Retired Teachers Association, Sheboygan County Association for Home and Community Education, and Sheboygan County Quilters Guild, and was a long-time member of St Dominic Parish.
Elaine is survived by her children Paul (Jeri) McGinley, Mark (Jenny) McGinley, Kathy (Charlie Tiede) McGinley, and Tim (Katie) McGinley; grandchildren Brenna (Steve) Rantala, Laura McGinley, Ben McGinley (Amanda Schmidt), Sam (Kimmy) McGinley, Katie Henderson, Lucas Henderson (Allie Barringer), Tyler Henderson (Sarah Johnson), Connor McGinley, Clare McGinley, and Meghan McGinley; great-grandchildren Milo Manley and Monroe Henderson; sister-in-law Barb Lukaszewski, brothers and sisters-in-law Larry and Mary McGinley, and Mike and Ruth McGinley; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Bernard McGinley, sister Cecelia Dobbs, brothers Dennis Lukaszewski and Jimmy Lukaszewski.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Elaine will be celebrated on Monday, October 28, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2136 N. 21st Street, Sheboygan. Family and friends may gather at the church on Monday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the John Michael Kohler Arts Center.

I met your Mom at HCE and had many wonderful talks with her. She was such an uplifting person and always willing to share her knowledge with those of us who were willing to ask and listen. I wish I had asked her more about quilting . she will be missed

Kim and Todd Tiede

Todd and I send our deepest sympathy for the family of Elaine. Though limited in our family gatherings with Elaine, we enjoyed her love for flower gardening and appreciation for local music at the summer series in Sheboygan. She indeed lived a full life serving others and is at peace with our heavenly Father.

When I first moved to Sheboygan , Elaine was an encouraging mentor as I learned the ropes in teaching. Her smile and positive energy will stay with me forever. My sincere condolences go to her family
