Elmore Van Sluys was born on July 13, 1936 to the late John and Elsie Van Sluys and went home to his Lord and Savior, who he loved very much, on August 30, 2025 at the age of 89. He was united in marriage with Shirley Kimball at the Beacon of Light Chapel on July 31, 1954. During his working years, he was employed by Piggly Wiggly for 46 years, starting as a delivery boy and then as a meat cutter until his retirement in 1998. Elmore served in the National Guard and was a member of the Elk’s Club, NRA and the Local Diving Club. He also enjoyed line dancing, Polka dancing, hunting, fishing, playing sheepshead, cooking, snowmobiling and butchering deer.
Elmore is survived by his wife, Shirley; children, Gary Van Sluys, Michael (Wendy) Van Sluys and Darrell Van Sluys; grandchildren, Tabitha (Brad) Seefeldt, Nathan (April) Neerhof, Timothy Van Sluys, Sammuel Van Sluys, Benjamin Van Sluys, Tania (Adam) Debroux, Lisa Jawort, Amanda Van Sluys and Alex (Stephanie) Van Sluys; 12 greatgrandchildren; siblings, Elroy (Terry) Van Sluys, Willard (Ruth) Van Sluys and Mary Alice (Dennis) Mickelson and sister-in-law, Eileen Frances. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jerry Van Sluys and grandson, Matthew Van Sluys.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 12:00 p.m.
