Eugene “Gene” Kleinke

Eugene “Gene” Kleinke, age 88 of Sheboygan passed away Monday April 15, 2024. Gene was born May 29, 1935, in Sheboygan to the late Reinhart and Marie (Fritz) Kleinke. He was united in marriage to Arla Cobb on June 18, 1966, at the Brethren in Christ Church in Sheboygan.

Gene was employed at Donohue and Earth Tech for over 50 years. He enjoyed following the Packers and Brewers, loved flowers and doing crafts and woodworking. Gene enjoyed playing the drums in the old City Municipal Band, Drum and Bugle Corps and listening to Big Band music. He cherished the time spent with his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include his loving wife of 57 years Arla; daughter Pamela (Steven) Haglund of Beachwood, NJ; son Alan (Nicole) Kleinke of Sheboygan; grandchildren Samantha (Shawn) Huff, Samuel Haglund, Abigail (Jake) Bowser, Shellie (Ryan) Boyle, Joshua Kleinke and special friend Jenna Ruedt; great-grandchild Declan Kleinke; and his sister Dorene (Paul) Koehn of Howards Grove.
Gene was preceded in death by his daughter Shellie Marie and his parents.

Family and friends may gather at Mapledale Baptist Church, 4015 Superior Ave. Sheboygan on Saturday May 4, 2024, for visitation from 10:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial to follow in the Wildwood Cemetery.

In honor of Gene’s love for God, people and his enjoyment of music, in lieu of flowers, memorial funds will go toward sending teens to a Bible retreat and toward the musical instruments at church.
