George Peter (Pete) Longo passed on to eternal life on Friday, September 27, 2024, at the age of 88. He was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin March 17, 1936, to parents George and Minnie Longo. His family relocated to Racine, WI in his teens. There he met and eventually married his high school sweetheart, Angie Schifano. They celebrated 65 wonderful years together until her death last summer. George had been struggling with a number of medical issues in the past year, alongside the emotional heartache in the loss of his beloved Angie.

George was an accomplished and beloved teacher, coach and administrator, serving as
Superintendent of schools in D.C. Everest and the Sheboygan Area School District for 30 years. He was a sports enthusiast and a fan of the Wisconsin Badgers, Green Bay Packers, and the New York Yankees. He loved the game of golf and played well into his mid eighties,
accomplishing two hole in ones! In his later years he especially enjoyed playing some even
matches with his two sons (and true to form refused to take mulligans or gimmies). “Family First” was his motto and he and Angie attended many of his sons and grandchildren’s various events, no matter how big or small. Together the family spent precious time on a variety of family trips and intimate family gatherings.

George is survived by his sister, Linda (David) Bowman, his two son’s Lance, Steven (Susan) and four beautiful grandchildren, Rachel, Dominic, Nicholas and Gabriella. In addition, Angie’s “Little Sister” Samantha Cornish. He leaves behind countless treasured friends and neighbors. George was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Longo.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday October 18, 2024, at St. Dominic Parish, 2136 N. 21st Street, Sheboygan. Family and friends may gather at the church on Friday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00am. A private burial will take place for family at Holy Cross Cemetery, Racine.

In remembrance of George, the family is asking that you donate to Big Brothers/Big Sisters,
JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), Pancreatic Research Foundation, or any
charity of your choice.

The Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Online

Pete was a wonderful man I have known since I was a small child. Angie and Pete were close friends of my parents as far back as high school in Racine. My condolences to Lance and Steve. And let's go Yankees - you have to win the World Series for Pete this year!

Dear Longo Family, We are so sorry to hear about Coach Longo’s passing. Horlick High School and RebelNation will always be so proud of George. His examples and life’s work induced him into Horlick’s Hall of Fame (Graduates of Distinction) Membership. George’s engraved name will forever be on display on a special plaque that hangs in Horlick High School’s Main Hall. George and Angie will always be “ North Star Rebels!” Thinking of all of you as you celebrate George’s wonderful life!

I played many sports against George in Sheboygan and Racine. He was always played very tough. I enjoyed him in sports and talking to him.

Sincerest sympathies to his family. George was my boss first and my friend last . . . and he was the absolute best in both categories. He and Angie were the sweetest, most generous and kind couple and they will be sorely missed. Now they can be together again.
