Geraldine Rusch

Oct 04, 1922 - May 23, 2024

Geraldine Kuehn Rusch, age 101, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024 at Sheboygan Senior Community where she had been a resident for the past eight years.
Geraldine was born in Sheboygan on October 4, 1922 to the late Leo and Florence (Kuehn) Hettinger. She attended Longfellow Elementary School, Farnworth Junior High School and graduated from Central High School in 1940. Following high school, she worked in the Kohler Company General Office.
Geraldine was a lifelong member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church being baptized, confirmed and married there. On September 23, 1950, Geraldine married Frederick Rusch and together they had two sons and four daughters.
Geraldine was a former member of Bethlehem Mother’s Club, Bethlehem Altar Guild and the Alpha Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi. She volunteered at Morningside nursing home for many years. She really enjoyed participating in planning her high school reunions and in her later years looked forward to the monthly lunches with her classmates.
Geraldine enjoyed reading, bowling and spending time at the family cabin near Laona, WI. She loved watching the Packers and Brewers. She had a cookie jar that was always full of her homemade chocolate chip cookies.
She was a busy resident at Sheboygan Senior Community playing cribbage and sheepshead, going to musical events, participating in the resident council and sipping an old fashioned during her favorite Happy Hours.
Geraldine is survived by her children: Jane (Michael) Martin, Martha (Daniel) Hornickel, James (Donna) Rusch, Thomas (Lynn) Rusch, Kathleen (Michael) Klee and Mary (Gary) Strohm; 16 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Carol Fritz and numerous nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
Along with her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her husband Frederick (Midge), brother Leo, grandson Eric and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.
A private funeral service for Geraldine will take place at Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Entombment will take place at Lutheran Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Geraldine’s name can be made to either Bethlehem Lutheran Church or Sheboygan Senior Community.
Geraldine’s family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff of Sheboygan Senior Community for their compassionate care and friendship. We are truly grateful for all the kindness shown to our mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
