Gloria (Zander) Resnick of Sheboygan, passed away peacefully at the age of 84, on February 27, 2024 at Sharon Richardson Community Hospice.

Gloria was born on October 23, 1939 in West Bend, Wisconsin. She graduated from West Bend High School at the age of 17 and moved to Milwaukee to attend beauty school. It is there she met her husband, John, and the two were married on February 7, 1958 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Bend. Together they moved to Sheboygan and raised their six children. Gloria was a wonderful homemaker and stay at home mom. She was known for her amazing desserts, especially her poppy seed torte. Gloria and her husband were members of the Holy Name choir for more than 40 years. She was also an active member of the St. Anne’s Society. As her children got older Gloria began working at Knights of Columbus. She also volunteered at St. Nicholas Hospital with the Hospital Sisters. Gloria was always a kind, smiling face who offered compassion and prayer to all in need. She had a strong faith and was the leader of the prayer chain at Holy Name for the past 15 years. Gloria always led with her faith and leaned on God through all life’s trials.

Gloria was an animal lover from a very young age. She was always taking in injured animals and was happy to say she had a pet crow, owl, raccoon, bunny, and even two baby alligators. Of all the animals she has had, dogs were her favorite and she was never without a dog or two by her side.

Gloria and her husband enjoyed each other’s company the most. They had fun in everything they did together. Whether taking long hikes through the woods, cross-country motorcycle rides, singing and dancing together, or walking their dogs, they loved being together.

Gloria is survived by her children, David (Debbie) Resnick of Sheboygan, Mike Resnick of Sheboygan, Jeff (Bev) Resnick of Sheboygan, Anne Smith of Sheboygan, Kathryn (Todd) Basler of Sheboygan. Grandchildren, Garrett Resnick, Kellie Resnick, Jacob (Mariah) Resnick, Jason Resnick, Alyssa Resnick, Emily Smith (fiancé Steven Raley), Hannah (Dan) Janeshek, Lydia (Nathan) Jock, Joseph Basler, Thomas Basler, Benjamin Basler, and Grace Basler. Great-grandchildren, Alonso Resnick, Kenny Trilling, Jaxon and Jenna Jock.
She is preceded in death by her husband, John; daughter, Mary Joy; brother, Larry Zander; parents, August and Casilda Zander, as well as many in laws, extended family, and close friends.

The family would like to express immense gratitude to Dr. Bettag, Amy, and all the nurses and care takers at Sheboygan Cancer and Blood Specialists for so beautifully treating mom for the past 18 years. You have become family. We would also like to thank the nurses at Sharon Richardson for their kindness, compassion, and gentle care.

My sympathies to the family. Gloria was one of the kindest, sweetest ladies I have ever met. She will be missed.

The day Sherry and I moved next door to the Resnicks, Gloria brought over a warm loaf of home-made bread wrapped in a beautiful kitchen towel. That was the start of the many backyard and front porch chats I so enjoyed. I came to deeply admire Gloria's kindness, strength, wisdom and faith. I terribly miss her being next door, miss seeing the light in her window. Rest in peace my beloved friend!

To the family, your mother was such a beauty inside and outside. Always a smile always a word of encouragement. She and your dad loved to ice skate, as I remember. May they be reunited for eternity.

When the Lord calls us our love ones home he leaves us a gift of memories in exchange. My first memory of Gloria in her mothers garden to announce we were married before we could speak she ran up to me and hugged me and said my prayers are answered she cried and I cried.
