“Going to the house of the rising sun”
Herb Dallas, age 74, was born on October 20, 1947 and passed away on November 19, 2021 at Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center very unexpectedly. He was born in Green Bay, WI to the late Gladys Dallas and went to elementary school at the Oneida Mission and then attended school in Green Bay for middle and high school. Herb joined the United States Marine Corps and served 2 terms in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969. He married Doris Lannet on August 21, 1971 in Oneida, WI. Herb and Doris just celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on August 21, 2021 with family and friends. They then moved to Sheboygan in 1971 and started working for the Kohler Company and retired in 2009 after 38 years in the Iron Foundry. Herb enjoyed deer hunting, bowling, going to the casinos and spending time with his family, mostly with his beloved granddaughters, “Papa’s little angles”. He was instrumental with starting the Sheboygan County Detachment #1446 with George Heaney. He belonged to the VFW post 9156 where he was a member of the Honor Guard for numerous years and a member of the Marine Corp League.
Herb is survived by the love of his life, Doris; daughters, Tina (David) Meinhardt, Debbie (Donald) Aurich; four granddaughters, Taylor and Megan Meinhardt and Makayla and Lacey Aurich; brother, Milton (Nadine) Dallas; sisters, Ann Marie Webster, Sandy Stevens and Marlene Murphy; aunt, Rajah Notz; numerous, nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; special friends, George Heaney, Laura Townsend, Justin Kohlhagen and many other Marine Corp and VFW friends. He is preceded in death by his mother, grandparents, aunts, uncle, father-in-law and mother-in-law.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 2, 2021 at the VFW Post 9156, 552 S. Evans St., Sheboygan, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, some of the donations will be donated to the VFW 9156 and the Sheboygan Marine Corp League #1446.
The family would like to thank the medical staff at Aurora, Prevea and Dr. Syed who helped him out over the past couple of years along with his Marine Corp and VFW brothers and sisters.
He will be dearly missed by his wife, children, grandchildren and friends.
