Jacob Boerner, age 102, of Sheboygan was taken by the Lord to join his loving wife, Dorothy, of 72 years of happy marriage on July 2, 2021. She preceded him in death Dec. 22, 2012. Jacob was born Aug. 9, 1918 in Niagara, Wisconsin, son of Hildegard and John W. Boerner. In 1930 the family moved to Kohler, Wisconsin. Jacob attended and graduated from Kohler High School class of 1937. Jake married his soul mate, Dorothy Reischl at St. Peter Claver Church with Fr. Hausner presiding. Jacob and Dorothy were lifetime members of St. Peter Claver. Jacob and Dorothy enjoyed extensive travel in the U.S. and Foreign Countries, and enjoyed Cruise Ship travel.
Jake joined the Kohler Co. In 1937 and was employed as supervisor of fixture and brass and aluminum Die Casting design until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of the Quarter Century Club. In addition to his employment at the Kohler Co., he owned and operated the Sheboygan Music House. He and several talented instructors specialized in accordion instructions.
Jake served his country during World War II in the U.S. Anny in Italy and after the war ended in Europe, he was assigned to Headquarters Co. 15th Army Group Message Center where he served in Salzburg and Vienna, Austria the remainder of his tour of duty. He was honorably discharged on March 14, 1946 at Camp Grant, Illinois. He participated in the Honor Flight at Washington DC in 2014.
For many years Jake served as an usher at St. Peter Claver church and belonged to the St. Peter Claver Aid Society until it was disbanded in 2015. After retirement he served with the church’s grounds crew. He also enjoyed helping his children with many remodeling projects that never seemed to end but his help was appreciated. He spent many hours with his favorite hobby, two-dimension wood carving.
Jake is survived by his three sons, Thomas (Patricia) Boerner of Fond du Lac, WI, Robert (Mary) Boerner of Sheboygan, Jerome (Linda) Boerner of Townsville, S.C. and one daughter, Jane (James) Willmas of Sheboygan. He is also survived by 11 wonderful grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Besides his wife, Dorothy, he is preceded in death by his parents, John and Hildegard Boerner, 2 brothers, Martin and John and 2 sisters, Elizabeth Boerner and Margaret Pankratz.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 7, at St. Peter Claver Catholic Church, 1439 South 12th St., Sheboygan from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
The family would like to thank his neighbors at Mapledale Apartments, Sheboygan Senior Communities for their support, and Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home for their services.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jacob’s name.
