Jacqueline Ann Blindauer, age 60, passed away October 2, 2021, with her family by her side at Sheboygan Health Services.
Jackie was born September 2, 1961, in Sheboygan, Wis., to Kathryn and Eugene Blindauer.
Jackie was diagnosed with severe intellectual disability at 3 ½ months. Despite doctor’s recommendations for institutionalization, Jackie lived at home until 19 under the care of her single mother and siblings. She attended James Madison Elementary School in the Exceptional Needs program.
In September 1980, as her siblings were getting married and moving out of the house, Jackie was placed at Northern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled in Chippewa Falls, Wis.
In June 2005, Jackie left Chippewa Falls and moved to Plymouth, Wis. as the national movement to take people out of institutions and integrate them into the community took hold.
In May 2019, Jackie moved to Sheboygan Health Services.
Jackie loved to go for car rides and rock in a rocking chair. Ice cream and chocolate pudding were her weaknesses. She liked listening to country music and could always be found holding a stuffed animal. She had a playful sense of humor. When given a new stuffed animal, she would reach for it and throw it on the ground. But by the next day, you’d find her holding that new stuffed animal.
Jackie is survived by her siblings Suzanne (Patrick) Gallenberger, Milwaukee, Brian (Sandra) Blindauer, Waldo, Christine Renzelmann, Sheboygan, and Douglas (Patti) Blindauer, Sheboygan, half-siblings Jeffrey Blindauer, Plymouth, and Jennifer (Kevin) Hielsberg, Oshkosh, and her stepmother Jean, Plymouth. Nieces and nephews Jena, Anthony, Danielle (Donny), Nicholas (Rochelle), Garrett (Megan), Grant (Shaunna), Sara (Nate), and Stephen (Sara). Great nieces and nephews Amalia, Ebben, Lenyx, Shelby, Ashlynn, Morgan, Madison, Addison, Lauren, Harper, Bristol, Jackson, Amaya, Emily, and Kylie. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, and numerous cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents Kathryn and Eugene, paternal grandparents Edwin and Clara Blindauer, and maternal grandparents Milton and Hildegard Friedrichs.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 2133 N. 22nd Street, Sheboygan with Fr. Norberto Sandoval officiating. Family and friends may gather at the church on Thursday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. Jackie will be laid to rest next to her mother at Holy Cross Cemetery in Sheboygan. God gave us a delicate flower
To care for and to love.
He gave us a very special one
Of the rarest from above.
Its petals were a little bruised
And it needed a lot of care

As we tenderly cared for our flower
Through trails along the way.
But now our flower was taken

To soothe each aching heart
For we loved our flower dearly
And it hurts so deep to part.
Friends may think we
Have forgotten
When at times they see us smile.
