James E. Bahr, of Sheboygan, passed away on Tuesday Morning, October 5, 2021 at Terrace Place Assisted Living with family present.

Jim was born in Hartford, Wisconsin to Elmer F. Bahr and Marie (Meser) Bahr in October of 1930. He attended local schools and graduated from North High School as part of the class of 1948.

He married the love of his life, Jean Evans in 1951. They celebrated their 70th anniversary this past August.

Jim most notably owned Kuether Studio in Sheboygan for several years and retired as Production Scheduler after a long career at Plastics Engineering in Sheboygan. He served in the US Army during the Korean conflict. He was a man of God and was very involved with the former St. Andrew Lutheran Church.

Jim put family first. He helped create an Ozzie and Harriet kind of family. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.

He enjoyed camping, traveling, fishing, boating, painting, and wood carving. He was a true renaissance man. He could figure out almost anything. He was a take charge kind of guy who dealt in reality and the way things are and didn’t waste much time making them the way they should be.

Jim is survived by his wife, Jean; children, Larry (Sandy) and Julie; grandsons, David (Merri) and Steven Bahr; brother-in-law, Al Herwig; 3 step grandchildren, Noah, Seth, and JoAnna and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Randy; parents and sisters, Jean Buhk, Doris Opgenorth, and LaVerne Herwig.

Visitation will be held on Friday, October 8, 2021 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Lutheran Cemetery.

Special thanks to the kind, caring staff at Terrace Place Assisted Living and the Allay hospice team for their steadfast compassionate care during this difficult time.

Jim was a joy to be around! Always smiling! I'm so very sorry for your loss. May you find comfort knowing when the sun sets on a life here on earth, there's a glorious sunrise in heaven and great rejoicing at the arrival in heaven. Thinking of you, sending love and prayers.

Jim and Jean were friends of my parents, Ray and Lucille Ash, in the late '60s and early '70s. Both of our families went to St. Andrew's. For many years after that, especially after he became a widower, my dad cherished and appreciated that friendship, even if it was just exchanging Christmas cards each year. Peace to the Bahr family.

Mike and Judy Thun

We will surely miss Uncle Jimmy. We had so many good times. And I will never forget him singing Baby Face to me every time he saw me. Our love and prayers are with you Aunt Jean and family. You are all in our hearts.
