Joan M. Rautmann, 93, of Sheboygan, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 with family at her side at Sheboygan Senior Community where she lived the last seven years. Joan was born in Sheboygan to the late Harold B. and Inez (Wagner) Kroll. She graduated in 1949 from Sheboygan North High School. She then worked at Hoesktra and Metropolitan Life before she was married. On July 19, 1952, Joan was married to Leroy Rautmann in Sheboygan. Later that year, she joined him in England where he was stationed in the Air Force. While they were in England, their first daughter was born. Once her children were in school, she worked at JC Penney until her retirement. Joan was a Girl Scout leader, member of the Altar Guild, R&R Club and president of Daughters of St. Mark.
Joan loved people and her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also liked playing cards, watching the Packers and Brewers, and making quilts for the church. Joan enjoyed singing and led singing in the car while taking family vacations. While she was at Sheboygan Senior Community she always went to any music activities and went to church each week.
Survived by children Mary Rautmann, Carol (Daniel) Carriveau, John (Carol) Rautmann, all of Sheboygan; grandchildren Nicole Busch of Marshall, Carissa (Tyler) Ott of Sheboygan, Aaron (Misse) Kaat of Northbrook, IL and Jacob (Kelsi) Rautmann of Williston, ND. She is further survived by great-grandchildren Natalie and Ethan Ott, Sabine Busch, Lillith, Philip, Amethyst and Gregory Kaat. Further survivors include brother Tom (Nancy) Kroll; sisters-in-law Helen Rautmann and Beverly Rautmann as well as many other nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
Preceded in death by her husband, parents, sister Nancy (Roger) Hartmann, and twin great-grandchildren Hannah and Kaitlyn Ott.
There will be a visitation on Friday, July 19, 2024 at St. Mark Lutheran Church from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Don Johnson officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made in Joan’s name to St. Mark Lutheran Church. Private entombment will take place at Lutheran Cemetery Mausoleum.
