John Andrew Weir, age 56, unexpectedly went to be with Jesus on Friday, December 29, 2023 due to heart complications.

John was born on August 16, 1967 to Theresa Weir and the late Daniel Weir. He was undoubtedly the funniest of seven siblings, brother to Paul (Terry) Weir, Mark (Rhonda) Weir, Anne (Bob) Kosky, Mary Holsten, Beth (Dave) Sandmire, and Tom (Wendy) Weir. He was the larger-than-life uncle and great-uncle to Ryan (Sara), Mason, Logan, Justin (Jocelyn), Mikaela, Mallory (Stephen), Karley (Kyle), Danielle (Brad), Lauren, Alec (Allyson), Crystie, Tyler, Eli, Andrew, and Emma. He was the exceptional brother-in-law to Heidi (Jon) Krueger and the wonderful son-in-law to Wayne and Linda Thiel.

John loved each of those roles, but being a father and husband was his greatest joy. He was the most amazing father to Andrew, Courtney, and Natalie. He offered the best advice in every situation. His guidance, his humor, his patience, his work ethic, and his love for them made John an ideal role model for these three children, each now an incredible young adult.

John graduated from Greendale High School in 1985. He earned his degree in business (Bachelor in Business Administration) from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 2003 and spent over 20 years working with FIS as a Project Manager Specialist.

There aren’t enough words to describe the kind of husband that John was to Amy. Everyone saw it. Their story-their second chances-began May 20, 2011 on a blind date. They were united in marriage on September 4, 2021, in the most wonderful celebration of love surrounded by their dearest family and friends.

John and Amy’s life together was full of love. There was not one day without laughter, not one day without sarcasm. Too many times to count, Amy commented “he drives me crazy,” but she wouldn’t have traded him for anything in the entire world. They never said no, taking every opportunity to make memories with family and friends, spending countless hours on bleachers, dinners out, parties and gatherings, small getaways, as well as time together at home, watching their favorite shows and movies together. Aside from their wedding, their best experience happened in October cruising through eastern Europe. Although they couldn’t have known it then, the cruise turned out to be truly their trip of a lifetime. Grateful for their years together, though not nearly enough, they made each moment count. John will be forever missed and forever loved by his wife.

Inexplicably, John was a New York Yankees fan. He had a love/hate relationship with the game of golf. However, thanks to the Cousins Club, Tuesday night golf was never boring. He loved the outdoors, rarely missing an opportunity to take their Boxer, Lucy, on her daily walk. He absolutely loved having a large yard. He spent countless hours on his riding lawn mower and landscaping.

He never missed an opportunity to make someone laugh or lend someone a helping hand. He brightened every room he entered with his quick wit, snappy comebacks, and big, sassy laugh! John will be missed by everyone who was lucky enough in this world to have known him.

A funeral service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1121 Georgia Avenue, Sheboygan, with visitation from 2:00 p.m. until the time of the service at 5:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name to Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Please also consider making a donation to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, a disease that has touched several members of John’s family.

I am so incredibly heart broken to hear of John’s passing. He was truly one of a kind, always making those around him smile and laugh. I was fortunate enough to spend many days with John, through my friendship with his daughter, Courtney. One of my favorite memories of him was how crazy he drove us in his stick shift vehicle. I am sending thoughts and prayers to your family through this very difficult time. Know you are not alone, we are here for you through this journey & I have no doubt John and my Dad are having a beer together up in heaven!
